China appears to be releasing the number of deaths and new cases of the previous day every morning their time, which is the evening of the day before our time.

Yesterday evening we learned that 15 more people died on Saturday--the announcement was Sunday morning China time. We can expect a new update tonight our time.

Cases--Deaths--Fatality rate

CHINA — 5327 — 349 — 6.6%

Amazing how one country did so much better treating and saving patients than the others.

No ones argues that police states aren’t efficient.

Who would trust China to be truthful about this, seriously? Cheating, stealing and lying is part of the culture.

I think we should stop flights from China.

Do we stop importing food? Over 50 percent of apple juice comes from China apples. Check this article. It’s older so the imports are prob a lot higher now. https://americanmanufacturing.org/blog/entry/the-u.s.-imports-a-lot-of-food-from-china-and-you-might-be-surprised-whats

ROTFL

i do my best.

DP. WaPo article this morning said that they are using excavators to tear up roads leading into the quarantine zone to keep people from going in there to care for relatives. Plus these 1,000 bed popup hospitals. It amazes me to see this cultural difference with the U.S.

The level of efficiency is really something.

That's an authoritarian regime for you. They're also really efficient at hiding and covering up things.

The optics concern Dear Leader.

It's a very very large country.

I agree.

If I was at a city in China with no travel ban, I would take the whole family out for a 2-3 week vacation in the US or Europe.

It spreads before symptoms show. That’s why it’s hard to identify. See the bbc article posted today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-asia-china-51254523?__twitter_impression=true

They've known about this since December. Many have.

Ask the microbiologist who says we have good statistics from China.

The microbiologist expressed the view that the statistics coming out of China on the Wuhan virus were good.

She said nothing about the SARS statistics from China, which pretty much everyone agrees were deeply suspect.

China does seem to have learned from SARS that lying about an epidemic can have lasting adverse effects on one's international reputation. Hence, the tendency to think the Wuhan numbers are much more accurate.
