BRYC Girls TD Larry Best leaving for Washington Spirit

^^ Due to the uncertainty they have put themselves in a deeper hole for another year. They are falling behind in ID sessions as the other DA's have had several already and the ECNL clubs are going to announce theirs soon.

People within the club aren't really worried about this "uncertainty," nor should anyone else. They have stated that they plan to announce the direction the first week of Feb. So they either continue/announce immediate ID sessions in Feb/Mar (basically the same timing for the sessions as last year) or they disband. Either way it will be in time to meet the needs of everyone, both internal players and players looking to join a DA club. Obviously, Spirit parents would very much like the club to carry on, but if they don't, as the saying goes, it is what it is.

Why would any player leave an existing ECNL or FCV to play for Washington Spirit? What am I missing? Mediocre coaching, really high fees, and no wins? PP mentioned a pipeline for McLean and BRYC players? Why would those kids leave other than being cut? US Soccer award a DA to Great Falls? What’re players getting out of the GDA at this point? ECNL seems to have all the talent aside from those at FCV.

Nobody who has seen WS VA's U15 team would conclude that "ECNL seems to have all the talent."

McLean ECNL and BRYC 06 ECNL teams aren’t exactly racking up the wins either-do some fact checking. McLean 05 Ecnl coached by CLyde Watson is another story...

I should add VA WS and Arlington DA 05 are pretty equivalent and have close games too-probably very comparable to McLean 05 ECNL. Would be fun to have those teams square off..esp since Spirit DA 05 is a lot of former McLean 05 ECNL players this year!

I hate to agree, but I have to. I was rooting for Spirit. It has not lived up to what it could have been.

The Spirit VA U15 team has won 1 game. PP is citing this as a point of pride? Spirit 05 and 06 will be playing VDA 05 and 06 in a few weeks. Interested to see how that goes.

Wins were not important to that team. They were making sure a special player was getting properly developed. The team is making sacrifices for her. Great group of girls and parents.
