Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

First, it is too early to bump this thread! A few more weeks people.

Second, yes, Audrey Hepburn has come up. Audrey wore ankle pants, not capris. Big difference.

Capris, not ankle pants.

Call them what you want, even pedal pushers, but they look good only if you're built like a dancer.

Jennifer Aniston is not wearing capris in that picture - those are cropped pants. There is a huge difference and if you can't see the difference then I don't think this thread is relevant to you.

Cropped pants are great and are particularly good for short women. Capris... they don't look great but I would rather see a heavier woman in capris than in shorts, so I think that there is a place for them (not a "fashion" place, but a "running errands/very casual day" place)

Do you guys really not wear cropped pants? This is a completely standard office look for me in the summer (sometimes with short sleeved top):

I didn't think it was even a slightly controversial look.

I can't find any slim cut full length work pants right now, everything is cropped or trouser cut!! I keep looking because crop length is really unflattering on me, even with heels.

Bump. Lets keep the party rollin!

my guess is the person who first started this whole thread years ago was short and overweight.

So when do “ankle” pants become Capri pants? Are they the same?

I tend to consider ankle length pants as Capri pants when they’re a wider leg. Slim fitting, shape-skimming pants don’t look too bad usually. Wider leg pants ankle length or above just look dumpy.

Many, many of the middle-aged women on DCUM claim to be 5' 4" and 100 lbs, so they'd look great in these. Assuming you are proportional, they're fine for a non-dancer as well.

If OP had posted a photo of what she meant (baggy cotton cropped pants with an elasticized waist), this thread would have died years ago. Yes. Everybody looks like sh*t in those. But don't blame capris.

whats the difference in cropped pants and all the shorter ankle pants that are EVERYWHERE.

YEAY!! Every time I pull my capri pants out of my drawer last summer I thought of this thread and quietly said "F you DCUM." Capris for Life.

Many of the middle-aged women on DCUM also claim they look extremely young and regularly get mistaken for 20 somethings.

Love this thread. Admittedly shorter pants/capris/clam diggers/pedal pushers look terrible on me. I don't wear shorts. I wear dresses mostly if I'm that hot.

Even if someone had a great bod and was wearing them, I would still think- great ankles and calves- shame about the outfit! How much better would she have looked in something that was not that outfit? It's kind of a look that says "I'm done. I never need sex again. Don't touch me and pass me the pizza"

Yeah, shorts don't do me any favors, either. My capris offer the right amount of coverage while keeping you cool.

To each their own. The 6-8 inches of bare leg don’t keep me cool in DC summers. I tend to weak skirts instead.

Really? That's what the pictures of Audrey Hepburn above and the model in the cropped pants say to you?
