That makes no sense. What is the rationale for that? |
RIO did their bribery in secret! |
Oh you can’t read a map? You must be dumb. It’s not my job to spoon feed you. |
This really only makes sense if FCPS plans to terminate its contract with the City of Fairfax and leave Fairfax City on its own. How many kids do you think Fairfax HS would have without its western area? It would be like Meridian HS in Falls Church City. Thru had a simple proposal to bridge the Fairfax island to the main attendance area but it got dropped. All it would take is moving a small part of Woodson to Fairfax. We really should not be spending anywhere close to $300M on a massive Centreville renovation and expansion. These SB members plead poverty but waste so much money. |
That's because it pulls that small area of kids out of pyramid for MS ONLY. They have them going back to Chantilly for HS. Plus Liberty is twice as far away as Rocky Run. It's a ridiculous proposal. |
I think they were trying to fill up Liberty, which is underused. But its underused because its way off in the middle of nowhere, and not centrally located. So in that scenario they moved kids from Cabells mill to liberty and then back to Chantilly. Why? Who knows, but it makes no sense. |
Most of Franklin Farm is closer to Westfield than Oakton. And, again, South Lakes and Skyview are both closer than Westfield. Chantilly is also closer, but there is no room there. |
+1 give them the choice of Skyview or Westfield. |
I think the families in Hampton Chase, etc would rather stay at Fairfax HS than switch to CVHS. There isn't really even space at Centreville for a huge renovation, unless the county gives them some park land. The actual HS property is not that big. |
Yep, when Westfield, Chantilly or South Lakes hosts Oakton for home games, its closer for those families to go to their "away" game then drive back to Oakton! |
They are eliminating split feeders at both Wolftrap and Spring Hill ES. It’s so obvious some of you have no ability to read a map. If you did you’d know moving Lees Corner when it’s so close to Chantilly would be the epitome of stupid. It appears Reid and several School Board have quickly come to the same conclusion. |
It may be stupid, but Seema and Kyle immediately and publicly awarding Lees Corner for their tantrum was even stupider because now the Tantrum Precedent has been set. |
DP. That is just one indirect factor in the cost. Brass tacks is whether it takes drivers and buses off the road. A lot of people just assume/pretend that distance is the sole factor when there is so much more that goes into it. That’s why the FCPS transportation folks won’t ever be able to give a nimble estimate of cost savings. Way too many variables. |
+1 yep. That’s why I was literally asking for concrete examples of other places that were also getting moved and how much further they were. Crickets. LOL. |
Scenario 1 tries to eliminate Navy as a split feeder - by moving current Navy Chantilly HS families (including Highland Oaks) all the way to Oakton HS. Sorry but not interested in that commute. The elementary school kids all change friends in middle school anyway. I’m not sure I see a need to keep all of the elementary at the same high school? Scenario 3 also eliminates Navy as a split feeder by moving all current Navy Oakton HS families over to Chantilly HS. |
