Hegseth's Grand Summoning

Isn’t military leadership the paradigm for to-down?

CIC is last and obese. The only one-arm curl he can do is lifting a Big Mac plate to mouth.

I guess he needs to be drummed out.

We do need men and women who will say no to an order to launch military operations against the civilian population. Neither Stalin nor Mao were so constrained. They had Hegseths in charge. See where that lead.

Have you ever been in a military unit? Doesn't sound like it.

I was only in JROTC, but I come from a long serving military family - every generation since the revolution - and I get what you mean.

I saw photos that were taken of the audience inside the room; stone faced or poker faced, whichever you prefer. The word on the street is that the general consensus was absolute disgust with what they heard and that they were summoned to hear it.

I’m the OP and I have to imagine the disgust these brave men (and hopefully women) felt listening to these speeches, threats made (if you don’t like what we are saying leave and see what happens) being told that hazing and instilling fear in our troops is the future of our military. Being scolded for not cheering for frump. This is shameful.

I'm sure there are some that feel as you do. Most likely approve of most, but not all of the changes. And, there are some who are all for it.

I think of someone I know on an ROTC hike/march. They had a time limit and his group was falling behind. He had to carry a female cadet's backpack because she was slowing them down. Some of what Hegseth said has value.

lol ROTC? Really? So what? There are tons of people(men and women) who join and quit ROTC. ROTC cadets actually are evaluated for 4 weeks in the summer between your junior and senior year.

Never heard of a forced march in ROTC. Maybe it was for an EIB? The final graded event is a 12-mile foot march which must be completed in three hours or less. That is not really hard to do.

I think you are trying to say women should not be in the military because they can not keep up with any male? Were you in the military? I have seen a lot of men who can not keep up with women. Specially many of the support units. It’s not like all female who are in combat roles have to pass a standardized physical test that has no gender bias. Oh wait they do!

Next you will be posting about changing ROE because killing civilians always works out well in the end. It separates the good guys(and countries) from the bad ones.

Sure, it was anecdotal. It was also true. You do know that most ROTC students get tuition and a stipend? And, yes, well aware of LDAC or whatever the current name is at Ft Lewis.
And, if you listened to the speech, Hegseth also said that there were also men who would not meet the standard.

Yes, we had a big discussion about ROE in my house today. No one is calling for NO ROE, just reasonable ones. A year or so ago, DH and his military buddies were discussing their ROE in Vietnam compared to what their kids were required in Afghanistan. There were issues then, too, with the requirements. But, lately, it has been worse.

And, there is a place in DOD for those in support roles that do not require the PT test. It is called civilian jobs.

So your family is happy that civilians and hospitals aren’t off limits anymore? Nice.

Show me where they said that.

NP — So, how do you understand Trump’s comment about using US cities as training grounds for the military?
Cities. That means civilians, right?
He’s jealous of Putin and Netanyahu.

I think you are deliberately misinterpreting what he means. Our armed forces do need real world training before they are thrown into battle. What would you prefer they do instead?

So you're suggesting that overseas military actions will primarily involve strolling sidewalks and picking up garbage?

No, there’s plenty of gardening to do, trimming shrubbery and pulling weeds.

Save yourself the embarrassment and do not watch. It is painful to watch.

It was an embarrassing failure. They completely humiliated and discredited themselves in front of that audience.

Not if you read Fox News and its comments. Trumpies are loving it. I would not be surprised if a majority of people in that audience also agreed with what was being said. The military, including its officers, are majority pro-Trump. They might roll their eyes, but don't be shocked when they fall into line and start sending in our army to round up US citizens the way that the army rounded up US citizens during WWII. And this Supreme Court will allow it, Korematsu and all.

You sounded ridiculous when you and your LWNJ friends parroted “the republicans want to kill your children!”

You sound even more ridiculous today.
