This was a savvy choice.

I think Kelly was a better choice. I like Walz but he's not exciting, and Americans are so superficial and want exciting.

Have you heard Kelly speak? He’s about as exciting as rock.🪨

This was Kelly’s problem IMO.

It wasn’t his main problem. Harris couldn’t lose his senate seat. Would require a special election to replace him. Not sure if that’s a risk to take with a stacked court. I mean Johnson is threatening a lawsuit against Biden finishing his term. Biden went to great lengths to time his step down. After RNC and before DNC. Legally, delegates and campaign funds transferred to Harris in plenty of time for nominee certificate. After RNC was stealth move as JD was already nominee and together with Trump their entire shtick was bashing Biden. Laugh with me pp!!

I just don't buy that. AZ's Democratic governor would appoint another Dem to Kelly's seat. The special election wouldn't be until 2026, plenty of time to solidify support in a state that seems to be trending increasingly purple, if not blue.

It's not something I support but among the many great things he's done, it's not enough to switch my vote to a party of anti-children, anti-women weirdos who want kids without education, food, healthcare, and who want their own wives dead from lack of access to safe reproductive healthcare.

I don't think I could ever vote for the orange and couch lad. They're just too weird.

And transitioning 6 year olds is not weird???

It's evil and child abuse.

Agreed. And yet Walz is ok with it and thinks Minnesota is a model for the rest of the country.

Not in my list of top 1000 issues, PP. But you do you. Now, when I read this:

-Universal school meals COMMUNIST
-Stronger labor protections COMMUNIST
-Cannabis legalization DONE
-Stronger LGBTQ+ protections JEWISH
-paid leave/sick COMMUNIST
-80% clean energy by 2030, 100% by 2040 COMMUNIST
-protection for reproductive freedom JEWISH
-$1B for housing COMMUNIST
-gun safety UNCONSTITUTIONAL
-cut child poverty 1/3 COMMUNIST

These are things I care about for average Americans.

“Back in early 2005, a warning order went out to southern Minnesota’s First Battalion-125th Field Artillery to mobilize for a mission to Iraq, Behrends said. Walz served as the unit’s highest non-commissioned officer after he was conditionally promoted to command sergeant major on April 1, 2005, records show. On May 16, Walz retired from the guard, avoided the deployment, and ran for Congress.

Walz has implied in previous statements that he didn’t retire because of the deployment, but National Guard records show his service obligation wasn’t complete until September 2007.

Behrends was next in line for the position and was asked to take his place.

“I was like well, for Pete’s sake, if this guy quits, if I say I’m not going to do it, I mean, what the hell kind of leadership is that?” Behrends recalled. “If a company would say we’re going to deploy to Iraq and the foreman says, ‘I’m not going,’ what does that say to the 500 that work in that factory?”

Command Sergeant Major Behrends went on to serve in Iraq on a nearly two-year deployment, all while Walz began using that very title as a congressman.

Behrends said he contacted Walz with his concerns before raising the issue publicly, sending letters to Washington in 2016. The letters all went unanswered, Behrends said.

Mainstream media ignores story

Behrends again tried to draw attention to the story in 2018 when Congressman Walz announced his run for governor.

“It kind of just sat there, you know, when he was a congressman. He bragged that he was a retired command sergeant major and the highest-ranking person ever in the House,” Behrends recalled.

“Then, the state of Minnesota came out after 2018 after this was exposed and they said, ‘Well, he can say that he served as a command sergeant major, but he can’t say he’s a retired one because he’s not,'” he added.

“He was saying that and there were campaign letters coming in the mail saying that. They said, right on there, he’s a retired command sergeant major. Just tooting his own horn, hanging on the coattails of people that actually are command sergeant majors that went through all the process and put all the time in,” Behrends said.

A spokesperson for the Minnesota National Guard previously said Walz wasn’t able to retire as a command sergeant major since he failed to complete coursework and other requirements related to the rank.

Documents show the Army corrected Walz’s service record. He was reduced in rank to an E-8 master sergeant after retirement.

“It’s stolen valor is really what it is. I don’t know of anybody else that’s done what he’s done,” Behrends said.”

You say he was "dishonest about his service." I call BS and will simplify it: He served and still does. Where were Trump and Vance during the riots?

I'm so excited for VP Wallz!!! He is an authentic, salt of the earth, genuine person who can work with conservatives and comes from a rural background in midwest.

Thank you Kamala Harris! You picked a great one.

Let's go!!

Agreed. And yet Walz is ok with it and thinks Minnesota is a model for the rest of the country.

When Kamala was CA Attorney General she pushed for tax payer funded sex changes/cosmetic surgery for violent criminals. She also supported these biological males to be housed with female inmates resulting in rapes. These are the type of radical policies the leftists support.

Since 2017 CA has spent more than $4 million of taxpayer money on surgical sex changes and cosmetic “gender-affirming” enhancements for 157 inmates, including 4 on death row. The state has spent nearly $2.5 million on vaginoplasties and hundreds of thousands of dollars on fake breasts, laser hair removal, and facial feminization since 2017, when California became the first state in the nation to pay for prisoners’ sex-change operations

In his State of the State address in March, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota shared a personal story: To conceive his daughter, he and his wife had gone through treatments for in vitro fertilization that stretched over seven years.

His experience was not widely known before that month, and he explained that he had not been open about it in previous years because “your personal decisions about your family are no one’s business but your own.’’

That's a great soundbite with IVF on the line, folks.

Conservatives are elated by this pick. This is not good. They were way more scared of moderate picks like Shapiro and Kelly. A sampling:

Biden beat Trump by being the most centrist candidate in the 2020 primaries. This ticket cannot win a national election. America is way more conservative than California and Minnesota.

Waltz wants MN’s transgender laws to be a model for the country. No thanks.

Exactly. I'm anti-Trump (but still a moderate conservative who typically votes red) but this VP pick is making me think twice.

Can you imagine Trump trying to be a football coach 😂

He concocted a big brain plan though. He’s suggested that winning NFL coaches and winning race team owners should be military advisors. The loser emphasizes the winningest.

Be thankful for a hot minute it wasn’t one of the others?

I liked Beshear, thought it was probably going to be Kelly. I'm a little concerned Walz might be painted as a Bernie clone, but I'm more glad she didn't pick Shapiro.

I’m the poster that said earlier about the optics of him - looks old but isn’t. My enthusiasm is low right now. See how the pendulum swings so easily?

What's with this obsession with gender changes, MAGAs? You all have their really weird obsession with this. I'd rather spend my time thinking about the issues that impact the vast majority of us, which Harris-Walz are much, much better at addressing.

Looked at that. In that survey, Minnesota scores high on quality of life, which is only tenuously related to business friendliness. It is 35th for cost of doing business.
