Honestly it looks down to Frumin (AU park support), Duncan (Palisades), and Goulet (Outside W3 Dark Money). Nobody else has more than 150 local W3 donors. Frumin is a bit more NIMBY than Duncan, but pretty similar overall. Goulet is all over the place, one day he says he is for reducing costs, then he come out in favor of spending money on a stadium for out-of-towners. But he is pro-charter school - which in W3 isn't even an issue (lowest charter use in the city, with no charters in boundary). As for the makeup council post election? Hard to say. I think Mendo will win, as will Naidu. W5 will stay progressive with either Faith/Parker. Does Bonds keep her seat? Not clear, she doesn't even really have any name recognition. Honestly, any pronouncements seem too early, unless you have seen polling results that the rest of us haven't. |
| Yes, it seems to me the council is going to remain roughly the same no matter who wins in Ward 3. |
|
Every incumbent will win and in every case where there is a choice, the more centrist/conservative candidate will win.

Goulet will just be an obstructionist on the council who really pushes through little policy other than saying "no" to everyone else's ideas. Duncan and Frumin both seem to be a little bit more liberal and YIMBY than Cheh (Duncan more so), but neither would be a significant ideological shift away from her. To me, it shows how capable and popular of a council member she was that very few in the race want to deviate from her policies and priorities. I hope Cheh's endorsement of Duncan pushes her over the finish line here. I'm voting for her. |
You say obstructionist like it’s a bad thing. Probably should be more people asking hard questions on the council before throwing money at the next fad. |
We consistently end with a budget surplus every single year. We need to make sure there is good oversight of the projects and agencies using the money, sure, but this idea that we are just throwing money at everything is really incorrect. Taxpayers' money should be used to help them and the community around them in whatever way possible, not just be left to sit around. Frumin, Goulet, and Duncan have all said they are not for increasing taxes (it doesn't make sense when we have a surplus), but I only trust Duncan and Frumin to actually work towards putting the money that we do have to good use. |
Goulet is the only candidate in the Ward 3 race who supports throwing money at RFK Stadium in hopes of bringing the terrible and corrupt Commanders/Washington Football Team/Redskins/Whatever franchise back to DC. |
Honestly, I was leaning in the Goulet direction as I thought it'd be good to have a person who can add numbers in the council. But then when this RFK/Out of DC support stuff came out, and I'm not sure he can add anymore. (RFK will be a money pit, bigger than any other money pit in DC history) Honestly I may just end up with Frumin as he was the one who wanted Western High at the current Ellington site from the get go. |
Did Duncan really only have 12 donors this past month? That cannot be right. |
I don't know where you get this. Frumin got the Lisner project through. He got the lights in at Chevy Chase playground, he got the AU Law school and AU dorms through. Where has he been an obstruction to new development? |
He's repeatedly told the NIMBYs in Foxhall and Palisades that he is against building the new elementary school at Hardy Park, and that the new high school at the old GDS campus needs more "community engagement" before we proceed with the mayor's plan. He also didn't lift a finger when residents in his ANC (3C) fought off the development at Super Fresh for years. |
He supported a PUD at the Superfresh site, but the developers went in a different direction. His opposition to the Hardy site has more to do with placement and common sense than "saving the park" - read his website. You are mischaracterizing his postition. |
The Mayor is opposed to the trolley trail. given that, how will 550 out of boundary students get to and from the new high school everyday? It is an illconceived plan and total waste of DC public dollars. |
So rather than look at his actual results as an ANC Commissioner and non-profit board leader, you are taking what you want and spouting falsehoods anonymously. |
Frumin had long left the ANC before the Superfresh proposal ever came before it. Which the developers did pursue as a PUD and are fighting the appeal of so you are not well informed at all on this one. |
