What’s going on with the two bills?

Anonymous

Often, Biden was unwilling to try to pressure recalcitrant liberal House members to vote on infrastructure separately from the social spending bill, even as some allies wanted him to try. The liberals had sought to use the Senate-passed infrastructure bill as leverage to ensure their social program priorities wouldn’t be left behind.

That cautious approach eventually created friction at the highest levels of the party. After Biden visited Capitol Hill last Thursday, Pelosi and her team grew livid that he hadn’t seized the moment to ask House Democrats to immediately vote on infrastructure, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation. They made it known to the White House that they were unhappy, one of the people said.

She also said she would put the infrastructure bill on the floor yesterday and hold the vote open to get the bill through.

Guess that didn’t work out too well for her. Lame duck Speaker losing control.

She already lost control and the 3-year-olds are running the house. Oh well.

Nancy is a lot of things but she is a shrewd politician. They're going to end up with eggy faces in December.

Why? Because you say so? If there’s anyone with egg on her face it’s Nancy. I think it’s high time her and the rest of them start standing together with the CPC and abandon the corporatist agenda.

Like I said

Reading between the lines - this alliance between Klain and Jayapal is not going down well.

The vote came at a moment of high tension inside the White House. Aides said the president has grown increasingly short-tempered. Over his three decades in politics, Biden has been known to scream at staff on occasion, but Biden aides said since he has become president, the yelling has become more frequent and directed at a wider audience of staff.

Tensions were also running high between the White House and Capitol Hill. On top of Pelosi’s anger with the White House last week, frictions ramped up between the speaker and Jayapal. Some Democrats on the Hill also expressed frustration with Klain, who they said had empowered Jayapal and her caucus at the expense of the rest of the party. Klain speaks regularly with a range of members, including moderates such as Gottheimer, a White House official said.

Nope. Try again.

About 20 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus are prepared to vote no on the bipartisan infrastructure bill, a progressive source told Fox News' Jacqui Heinrich.

Sleep well!

You should have stayed up PP.

H.R.3684 - Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed. Already done with Senate and is on Biden's desk to sign.

Signed, sealed, and delivered.

None of these issues have anything to do with wokeness or the culture wars. This is either deliberate gaslighting or deliberate obtuseness, grabbing onto a bunch of every longstanding issues and pretending they have to do with wokery.

But should I be surprised? The progressive left burying their heads in the sand is to be expected.

Biden really needs to start floating the idea of paying for BBB with funds earmarked for the military and DoD and their task-masters at Boeing, Lockheed, etc. The wars are over (Thank you, Mr. President!) and it’s immoral that we fund the MIC like we do. Let’s watch the repubs squirm while we take an axe to their sacred cow.

DOD already got major funding like $740 billion - more than they even asked for. There's nothing to hold over them. Try again in 2022.

Time to revive Peace Dividend 2.0.
DoD’s always preaching doing more with less, fiscal accountability, efficiency, etc. etc. Time for them literally to put their money where their mouth is.

Wanna know what is in this monstrosity known as the Build Back Better Bill?
Thread:

Do you like paying $3 per gallon for gas? DC Dems' spending spree is fueling the HIGHEST INFLATION in 4 decades. Another $4.5 trillion in government spending should help that... (3/x)

$330 BILLION more in incentives for people to reap government benefits while sitting at home that showing up to work - that should help labor participation that is 1.8 million workers behind where the Congressional Budget Office says we should be. (4/x)

Debt limit!!!...Remember that topic? Anyone? Well good news, this bill makes it WORSE by adding $3 TRILLION in NEW debt. (5/x)

Are IRS audits your thing? Would you like doing them annually? Starting on page 1923, this bill has $80 BILLION to DOUBLE the number of IRS agents... (6/x)

Decisions. Decisions. Spend more on the wealthy 1% or more on working families. Easy decision I suppose for Democrats. The tax break they inserted giving millionaires a $23k tax cut is more than double the cost of what they spend on the children or earned income tax credits.(7/x)

Based on the average home price and average income, a constituent of Nancy Pelosi would be eligible for $82,000 for a government subsidy to help buy a new home. No typo there. $82,000! (8/x)

Families making $500,000 shouldn't be given subsidies for luxury electric vehicles? Well, on page 1480, the bill includes a $12,500 tax break for them to purchase EVs in this bill. Targeted relief indeed! (9/x)

Do you think illegal immigration and open borders are a problem now? Wait until the cartel hears about the benefits under this bill, which includes $100 billion for BACKDOOR AMNESTY with 5-year renewable work visas. (10/x)

But wait! If you’re wealthy, the news gets better. On page 226, taxpayers will be paying for your kids to go to preschool. And on page 1065, the wealthy get taxpayer-funded paid leave…over $3200 for a month!

Surely "building back better" does something about the border crisis, right? Nope. “Border Security” and "Border Control" is listed in the 2100+ pages exactly ZERO times.

Getting Americans out of Afghanistan? Zero mentions. Surely there's something about holding China accountable for covid, right? Nope, zero. Nada. Nothing.

But hey! If you've been thinking about buying a taxpayer-funded electric bike, this is the bill for you! It’s in there.

And after Thursday afternoon's revision, they quietly slipped an additional 10 pages into the bill late Thursday night. What did they add? Funny you ask, an additional $7,500 of tax relief for the 1%!

If you're keeping score at home, that’s on top of the $250 billion in this bill to restore a tax break for the wealthiest of the wealthy. I repeat: ONE OF THE LARGEST PROGRAMS IN THIS BILL IS A TAX BREAK FOR MILLIONAIRES.

Speaker Pelosi says this bill is “for the kids” and “for families”. Then why do families with two kids under 6 see a tax increase of $3,200 in 14 months under this bill while millionaires get a $27,000 tax cut?

Ah, priorities priorities. Democrats say, “OUR BILL PUTS FAMILIES FIRST”. Ok…$20 million for plants, desert fish, and butterflies. Each. All ahead of families in this bill!

@12:51...maybe take your news from independent sources (like rating agencies) rather than partisan politicians
