When is the governor scorecard coming? Should be good…

The other guy is a complete whacko. Seriously, he is mentally ill.

APE could have easily not endorsed. They actually issues a detailed statement as to why they are endorsing Kadera:

This is a great statement. Thank you for posting.

It seems weird to endorse Kadera now when they ran their own candidate (and was against Kadera) in the primaries.

Guess APE is still searching for relevancy. No one cares.

They could have not endorsed.

You think it's weird to later endorse someone when you were previously opposed to them in a primary? Another feeble attack that ignores pretty much the entire history of politics in the United States and world.

DP. Isn’t that the whole premise of the Dem caucus, that regardless of who you vote for in the caucus you agree to support whoever is ultimately the Dems endorse? This happens every election, that supporters of the losing candidate(s) in the primary/caucus throw their support behind the party’s nominee in the general election.

It also makes them appear “middle of the road” before they drop the hammer with their gubernatorial scoreboard. Which will obviously be structured to select Youngkin. The only question is will they do it this coming Sunday or next.

Try not to worry about it so much.

That was such a weird endorsement. We don't really like you but I guess we'll endorse you anyways.

The Miranda/APE camp roasted Mary K and her supporters during the caucus. They were quite nasty.

I just saw some brand-new "Parents for Youngkin" lawn signs on the medians.

Are these from our prolific lawn sign people?

I think Standards Based Grading is going to make them super relevant and I think the fact that they endorsed Kadera shows how mainstream they are, and their agenda is. You’d have to think the local Democratic Party is the Church to think APE is some sort of heretical Youngkin style GOPers. APE is just this message board and the education matters FB group, but IRL. If APS and the SB hadn’t done such a crap job over the last two years, APE wouldn’t exist. APS has had ZERO accountability or consequence for its missteps and it’s about time someone pointed out it’s reputation has been coasting on the performance of good teachers and an over abundance of high acheiveing students from well to do families. It’s finally becoming clear that the admin needs to up their game.

Time will tell.

I’m a high school teacher. Everything they’re talking about now- like small class sizes- sounds good to me, but I’m having a hard time forgetting that they would’ve had me work with 150 teens without a vaccine. I can’t get over that:

The administration has alienated both teachers and parents. And they DGAF. Why should they? The school board that hires them is utterly unresponsive to the concerns of either parents or teachers. The admin knows the SB thinks of themselves as good liberals first and foremost, and is in thrall to whatever the latest social trend is.Which is why in the midst of a pandemic, we’re getting a push for Standards based grades that NO ONE asked for, from a superintendent who himself made the motion to lower state standards.

Arlingtonians should stop voting for these party regulars. The chair, Kanninnen, doesn’t even want the job anymore, else she wouldn’t have run for county board. So you can bet she cares more about internal county Democratic politics more than the job at hand. Listen, you can be a Democrat and not vote for these junior varsity candidates, who are simply chosen on the basis of not causing trouble for the varsity squad — the county board. With the exception of Priddy, none of our SB has children in the APS system. Maybe if they did, they’d pay a little more heed to parents concerns.

Well said. Thought, I understand even Priddy withdrew a child from APS and went private this year.

He did. The older one got into HB, so technically he still has a child enrolled in APS.

Kanninen has always had her eye on County Board or other higher office. SB has always been her stepping stone. She just hasn't been able to step off yet like others have.
Ticks me off about Priddy.

School Board is not a stepping stone. No one has moved up from School Board since Libby Garvey in 2012.
