if she has had just a smidge of the black dress peeking out it would have looked charming, the high waist and inches of dress below the coat hem makes a lovely coat look like she outgrew it.

The coat is lovely. Too bad it doesn't fit her at all like the designer intended...it just looks like she borrowed it from someone shorter.

Why does she always wear a pillbox hat? If this is a religious garment, please excuse my ignorance. I used to live a neighborhood with lots of ultra orthodox and some Hasidic people, but they wore wigs or scarves/hats that covered a lot more of their hair.

^^just read that “ultra orthodox” is considered pejorative by adherents. According to Wikipedia, the preferred term is “strictly orthodox”. Unrelated to Ivanka’s terrible fashion, I know.

I agree with all of this. She took a nearly perfect coat and made it weird.

I adore that red coat and really want it. I agree it is way too short waisted on her. I am long waisted (but not busty like Ivanka) and the modern trend to cut everything short waisted drives me nuts. I feel like everything looks like a maternity dress on me.

A high waist is also great when you are newly pregnant...just saying.
