Am I reading too much into it? Weird relationship between my dad and SIL

i am vacationing with my dad, brother, SIL and our kids. I feel really weird about my SIL and dad's interactions. For example, we came to knock on her door my dad literally ran to the door to beat me to it. She opens the door and she is in a shirt and a thong. He always sits across from her at a restaurant. Today at the beach I saw him pat her behind like a quick smack (she was bending over). She is very attentive to him always asking if he needs something. Am I reading too much into this? I have had my share of bouts of jealousy when it comes to her so I am not sure...

Op here I know that there is nothing sexual going on between them but I just feel very weird like they have some sort of platonic connection Or an emotional affair in DCUM lingo. My brother is spending most of the vacation on his laptop he is working. So today we were at the beach and one of her kids got cranky so she left to put him to bed. My dad was upset that she did not tell him that they are leaving. He also Keeps commenting on her tan and appearance in general. I have never vacationed Witt her before but apparently she is a little uninhibited. She came back to the beach in a shirt And lace underwear because all her bikinis were wet. Just totally weirded out by the whole thing.

My SIL does the same thing with my FIL (not related by blood). She comes from a f'ed up family and I figure this is how she behaved with her many stepfathers. Was gross 20 years ago, but is just pathetic-looking for both of them now. Really bums out FIL's daughter and the rest of us non-blood relatives make fun of them in private.

Assuming you mean thong underwear - not a thong bikini, which may still be odd in the setting, but not as creepy as answering the door in underwear.

My mother could not get away from work. My brother and SIL spend a lot of time at my parents house. Basically they stay there from Friday to Monday every week because my parents have a pool. I only see them two to three times a year. But every time I go I feel like SIL is a replacement for me. She walks around the house in a t shirt no pants. Just all around inappropriate. I think my mom is a little jealous too because she has mentioned things to me like SIL will call dad daily just to check in or to ask for advice. The thing is her parents are nearby and they have a pool too!
