It's all so stupid. As someone said above, thinking about it make me angry. And we also have family in many states and they are normal. It's so frustrating. But, what can we do? Can't move to another state randomly.

The stupid thing is these kids in the pool are already allowed to play together. So, they can hang out in neighborhood or even each other's houses but then come to the pool and stay 10' apart?

I say we go with the 50 person rule and it's at your own risk. If you don't want to go, then don't. Ask people to stay apart on deck and try to stay apart in the pool but that's it. He said 50 people and that's what should happen. We are going to church now inside with 200 people. I don't care that we have to wear masks....we are still doing it INSIDE. Or, a pool can mark off two lanes for people who want to stay apart and swim laps 3 to a lane or stand and cool off. The rest of the pool is open AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Pools are not limited to 50 people.

Max 3 swimmers per lane.....unless your pool is absolutely enormous.

So phase 2 allows crowds of 50 except at the pool there can’t be 50 total swimming and sitting?

In Phase 2 there can't be more than 3 people per lane during lap swim. Dive areas can be open with no more than 3 in the dive area (I don't know what defines a dive area) and exercise is allowed as long as participants are at least 10 feet from each other. There is no restriction to the number of people on deck if they are not a social gathering (ex. spectators at a sporting event, a concert, a party). Your table groupings do have to be at least 10 feet apart.

I hope not. Not for recreational swimming.

Is Great Wolf Lodge really opening? If so, then that really is messed up.

Yes, my neighbor was at the Hilton Oceanfront

There was a sign saying don't swim if you have COVID like symptoms.

But the pool bar was open and they had live Music all weekend.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how you can have hardly anyone swimming but tons of people sitting on the deck...I guess this is for resort/hotel pools?

Hotel pools in VA beach are open. My neghibor got home from there last night. Just check the location tags on instagram, the swim up bar at the Hilton Oceanfront looks pretty dope.

GWL is opening June 15th, check their website or give them a call if you don't believe me - https://www.greatwolf.com/williamsburg / 800.551.9653

They are still in phase 2. Was there an exception for hotel pools?

What did their capacity look like? I'm hoping they really pushed the envelope to help set expectations/precedent.

I just called the VB hilton oceanfront and they told me the pool was still closed. So that's weird.

A webinar is not law. This VDH employee's title before the pandamic was "Head of Bedding & Upholstered Furniture" and not people are acting like she is the word of god.

The order is very clear - https://www.governor.virginia.gov/media/governorvirginiagov/governor-of-virginia/pdf/Virginia-Forward-Phase-Two-Guidelines.pdf (pool info is on page 23)

"Indoor and outdoor swimming pools may be open for lap swimming, diving, exercise, and instruction only", there is no further definition of "exercise" provided in the order.

ex·er·cise/ˈeksərˌsīz/ - "activity requiring physical effort, carried out to sustain or improve health and fitness."

Throwing a football in the shallow = exercise
5 year old dogie paddling = exercise
Cannon balls off the side = exercise

Agree. This is on state employee's interpretation. Take it or leave it.
