With Love, Meghan on Netflix

Anonymous
Meghan really should have used her tremendous wealth:public profile into semi-quietly promoting a charity that would be embraced by everyone - something like addressing childhood hunger, or disaster relief or blood donations, or even doing some hands on actual help - a la late President Carter’s late in life devotion to Habitat for Humanity.

Raise awareness. Do some actual work. Educate yourself and develop a passion for helping others. Any glimpses into her life or press coverage would be Meghan truly doing something worthwhile in the service of others.

But now to have some cheesy website shilling candles and pancake mix? How the “mighty” have fallen - she is a complete nut job who is a legend only in her own delusional mind.

Again, great you’re selling a few items but how about pledging that 100 percent of profits go to charity like Paul Newman’s line of products.

Anonymous wrote:Fear of falling way behind in this pop culture zeitgeist, I watched Meghan’s show and Alec Baldwin show yesterday, just the first episode of each.

I was rooting for Meghan and expecting the worst from the Baldwins, so I was surprised that I had the opposite reaction:

I liked the first 10 min of Meghan’s show, where there was good music playing and the scenery with the bees was lovely. I thought if she stuck to that format, it could be a very relaxing type of show to fold laundry etc. but once she got into the kitchen, it was pretty cringey. Two friends praising each other earnestly isn’t interesting or engaging. She needs a gay assistant or someone more fun/lively to break it the vibe so she doesn’t take herself too seriously. I don’t think I’ll watch another episode.

I thought I would hate the Baldwins/Hilaria, but was actually really fascinated by their life in NYC with 7 kids. They put it all out there, the messiness and chaos, and Alec is just funny with his quips (though he looks utterly exhausted).

Also, the naturalness of Hilaria’s hair/makeup/clothing compared to how made up and stiff Meghan looked was quite jarring.

I will continue to watch the Baldwin show, but I feel bad that I find Meghan’s show unwatchable.

Alec Baldwin is much more likable than Meghan. I think he is a smart and good person who has had some struggles in life which have humbled him and he has grown from.

I wouldn’t want to watch Hilaria or Meghan, but of the two, I prefer Hilaria because even with her grift, she actually seems less full of sh*t than Meghan.

He literally called his own child a pig lol

And yet, he is still more likable than Meghan. Alec is flawed and he is vulnerable about that. He is remorseful about his relationship with his daughter. And more impotently, he doesn’t pretend that his life is rainbow and butterflies and that the world had so much to learn from him - so here, enjoy this gift of a “reality” show he’s giving you. It’s quite the opposite - the world is intrigued by his chaotic life, so he got a contract and since he obviously wants the money, he is monetizing it.

He doesn’t pretend that his life is rainbow and butterflies because he’s literally murdered someone. Meghan has done nothing of the sort.

Do you hear yourself? Alex Baldwin is giving us the “gift” of a reality show? Babes he kept knocking up his fraud of a wife and now has to pay tuition for 30 kids. That’s why we are getting a reality show.

DP. He accidentally killed someone. That is not murder but you know that. Sorry people find him more entertaining than Duchess Sussex puttering around someone else's home using other people's ideas.

It doesn’t have to do with the fact that he accidentally killed someone. It has to do with the fact that he realizes how ridiculous it is that he is sixty something and raising seven kids under ten, and he is willing to make a mockery of that on television (even if it’s just because he needs the money.) unlike meghan, he is not there saying it’s not to insane, and here are tips to do the same thing in your life. Moreover, Alec is the interesting half of his marriage. Nobody is interested in Hilaria alone, just like nobody is interested in Meghan alone. She is only relevant because she is married to a famous prince, but she is delusional enough to think it’s her that the world cares about.

Pp again- and Kate is more likable than Meghan precisely because she wouldn’t nauseatingly correct someone on air for calling her Kate Middleton, and make some ornery speech about how she needs to be called “Catherine of Kent” because it’s about sharing a family name with her *kids* Meghan is self righteous, full of crap, and a narcissist. She’s annoying to watch. Kate realizes she’s a cog in the wheel of a well oiled machine and for all of her privilege, she doesn’t whine publicly about the system that’s given her this life.

You like her because she doesn’t complain. That says a lot about you.

I like Kate because she seems like a nice person. I would be fine if she chose to push back on the ridiculousness of the royal family.

I find all celebrities who complain about fame annoying. Meghan complains about the attention in one breath and in the next, begs for it.

We have no idea if Kate is a nice person. She has a very disciplined and curated image. I do like that she doesn’t beg for attention and doesn’t seem like a hypocrite. She does her job and lives her life as privately as she can. Meghan claims she wants privacy, but can’t help herself talking about how much she wants privacy. She is her own worst enemy.

I like how you reduce her complaints of extreme racist abuse that she received from the media and the family to "she complains about the attention."

See, I don’t think the media coverage of her was racist. I think Kate faced very similar scrutiny for a long time. As did Diana. I think Meghan was delusional about what marrying into the royal family would entail on multiple fronts, including brutal media coverage.

You haven't seen the British media have you? Here is a good list: https://www.vox.com/first-person/2020/1/17/21070351/meghan-markle-prince-harry-leaving-royal-family-uk-racism

Assuming you won't read that, there was a headline she was straight outta Compton. A BBC reporter tweeted a picture of a chimpanzee saying it was their son story. A story that the avocado toast she liked was fueling murder and drought. A story that used "niggling" in the headline, how is that not a dog whistle? She got 2x as many negatives headlines as Kate. How is that not racist?

Google search sarah Fergusons headlines. The British press are truly inhumane - but equally so to almost everyone.

No one is arguing that the treatment wasn't horrific, or suggesting it was deserved. But it did reveal MM's superiority complex. When it met reality, and she wasn't getting the attention she wanted, she created a false narrative. It's why she rings so hilariously, consistently, disingenuous

The British media is BRUTAL in general. They just pick your weak spot and exploit it. The racism was inexcusable, but so was the fat shaming of fergie, the cruelty of exposing Charles infidelity, and the "waity katie" bit for kate.

It's arrogant, myopic, and selfish for MM to portray the media as specifically cruel to HER. They are cruel to everyone.

I think they were essentially asked to leave and she had to make an excuse as to why.

Come on. Exposing a mistress or saying “waity Katie” is NOT the same as hate-fueled racism. Can’t you see that?? With Meghan they could’ve gone after the fact that she was an actress, or they could’ve just made fun of the fact that she was an American, who didn’t know their customs, or something other than her race.

What coverage was racist? I don’t think any current coverage of her is racist. I don’t really remember the old coverage, so I’m genuinely asking. On the other hand, all the coverage defending her says that the negative press is racist. If anyone seems to be making race a prominent issue, it’s the people who like her. It’s kind of like the people who claim that calling Lauren Sanchez trashy is racist - it has nothing to do with her race and everything to do with her grotesque filler and innapropriate wardrobe choices highlighting her plastic cleavage. It’s not fair to label every criticism of someone who happens to be a minority as racist.

+1. This is exactly it. She created a false narrative and alienated her already isolated husband from his family.

PP above - just a former SAHM with a liberal arts degree from a party school! So frustrating to watch the complete unraveling of Meghan Markle. From Newman’s Own:

Fighting for kids since 1982
When Newman’s Own first began, Paul Newman declared that 100% of the profits would go to good causes.

The mission continues today through Newman’s Own Foundation. In total, more than $600 million has been donated to good causes since 1982.

Fergie defends her monster of an ex husband and sucks random people’s toes for money.

Talk about a hilarious rabbit hole. I once spent several hours watching Sandra Lee "cooking".

Seriously, if you need a laugh, go to youtube and search Sandra Lee Kwanzaa cake. It looks ridiculous and the combo of flavors would make me gag!

I did have fun noticing how she matched the kitchen curtain, shelf decor and her shirt to each recipe or holiday.

I enjoyed the show and don’t blame her for monitizing. Remember she didn’t want money from the crown and she is actually working. Good for her. I think for this project to have longevity I would have her traveling and exploring other cultures and cooking with chefs from different countries. There can also be a charitable component. She can still have the home part but just the home when it is not home will get old.

Of course she wanted money from the crown. Their wealth is entirely based on RF wealth.

I believe that the British media during the Diana/fergie years was equally as cruel as the racist treatment of Mrs. Sussex. Social media didn't exist, so you may not understand the extend of the negative coverage, but I lived in London for a year in the early 90s and it was startlingly bad. And It ended with a car crash caused by paparazzi who knew no boundaries, not a whiny interview with Oprah.

The cartoonist was fired FWIW. And the palace spokesperson came out against the Compton headline. There was no barrage of racism, really. Mean-spiritedness, yes. But that is par for the course.

This. I think the best rebranding for her and Harry would be to be intentional non-royals who could’ve royals but instead wanted to live Anthony Bourdain style.
