When someone is off, they pull them for 5 minutes to mentally adjust/decompress. It’s how successful D1 teams play too. SSSAS will be outplayed if they don’t use their bench this year. Good luck to them.

They are playing largely the same starting line for the third year. Lost a couple of good players but have a couple returning from injuries. It nets out the same. They either don’t have new talent or they are not using the “depth” that they have.

Somewhat similar situation at Potomac relying on handful of starters to play almost full game with not much to back it up.

Stone Ridge has talent at every grade level. They identify it, develop it and use it. Same but even moreso at OLGC.

Hey dad coach. Have you watched the games in the past decade? SR and Potomac sub very little and both DO NOT use their 2nd/3rd line bench in close games. They play their TOP performing players like all the other TOP schools. This isn’t rec! These teams are playing to win and a smart coach will not sub out their top D1 committed starters unless they need to rest, have an injury or the score is way UP. The coaching style at SSSAS has been winning games for 40+ years and most of those players have played with or for that head coach since grade school! They know the style and will win plenty of games. Clearly a clueless post with a kid that will be sitting on the bench and not starting in any games. [/quote

Sure, that strategy has worked so well for Potomac.

SJC has the best strength and conditioning program in the country, yet everyone on this thread wants to poo poo them. Many of these posts won't age well. New Coach is legit and you can continue sleep on the talent you never got to see because old coach wanted to run starters into the ground. SJC is going to be much better than people think.

Always better to do it first, then talk. SJC has a very tough schedule to start the season, so I would be tamping down expectations if I were a booster. The hyperbole in the first sentence makes me think this was a troll trying to draw out the usual SJC haters.

Old coach definitely ran the starters to the ground and not developing her bench definitely hurt the team's future. But they will battle BI for a distant 2nd in WCAC. GC won the 2 games by combined 19 goals last year even with all of the studs on that team that are now gone.

SJC's best year to be a major player was 2023.

Prediction.... By the time SJC plays Ryken on April 1, their record will be no better than 2-6, probably 1-7.

This isn't football or even boys lax. S&C is not the most important ingredient for success in girls lax.

I’m hearing some of those bench players were dropped down to JV and things aren’t so great at St. John’s right now. It will take time for the new coach to right the ship.

Perhaps the ship has been righted already.

You seem confident. The scoreboard will tell us if that is the case.

Things were not great last year and the coach got fired. Allegedly things are not so great again this year. So what is the root cause? Is it just a few nasty parents?

Prediction: you can take any top team in DMV and if they played first 8 games of SJC's schedule they could all be 1-7 and 2-6. Yes there are definitely SJC parents whose kids were on Varsity last year and now on JV this year that aren't happy and posting/trolling on here. Should be a great season of Lacrosse.

lax parents are insane!

If SJC is fearful Potomac, Collegiate, SSSAS & St Peter they really have fallen off and are in rebuild mode. Last year those would have been guaranteed wins.

So much hate for SJC in all their sports. Boys side is worse. If your child isn’t at the school why have so much hate? Worry about your school.
