I’m in DC, your little conspiracy theory is bogus, just like your claims in support of Allen |
He won in a landslide against Anon |
I was just confused because you referred to 1pm at about 2:30pm, so I made an inference. Please accept my apologies |
“whose been”
Oy vey, teach, you’re rumbling yourself now |
Nah, that was somebody else. But would you like to go back to the actual discussion? I have some time on the metro for you ![]() |
Oh now you have signal on the metro too?
Where are you riding the metro to? Ward 6 I hope |
When was the last time you were on the Metro? There's full signal. Would you like to resume the conversation at hand? |
DC - a decade at least.
Conversation could resume if you provide some information and examples. That’s why I think you’re a troll. Because you only ask for examples from the others who then provide it. Then you go quiet, then you pop up again. Same questions, same tone, never any detail. Not even on the topic of interest to you: education. What did Allen do that improved education in Ward 6 and how? Do you think it’s justified that his wife gets paid 130,000 plus benefits in a non profit where salaries account for over 70% and hers for about a quarter of its income? Why? |
This recall is about crime issues, so I'm not sure why you are so fixated on education just because I am a teacher. Where does his opponent stand on different education issues? (yes I know that the Recall Org has not provided a name, which is another reason I think this recall is silly) If you do want a specific example, Charles Allen has helped make the streets safer around my school by providing resources for traffic calming. There's not much him or anyone else on the council can do about the fact that Mayor Bowser refuses to engage with WTU on the expired contract. As for his wife, I'm not sure how that is relevant to the discussion, which is why I have not responded. If that's enough to sway your vote, that is certainly your perogative. We all can vote for whom we wish, for whatever reasons we wish. |
Traffic calming? Which actual person speaks like that?
Let’s say you are, traffic calming v murders? |
You asked what specific education related examples, and I was happy to give one. As I shared earlier, I don't blame Allen for the increased crime rate. I think there are a confluence of issues, that have been expressed on this thread and others that show that this is a much more complex situation than one CM and his votes. I don't mind engaging though, so I would love to hear more of your thoughts. It's nice to talk with adults after a long day with kids! |
I’m angry with Allen. Big part of it is his quite apparent contempt for the quality of life issues, not caring about the children who need to go to school the next day and having either ATVs driving up and down the whole night long, or bullets whizzing into the houses. Just a complete contempt for the people. We could afford to move; but I am really angry on behalf of all the parents and children who have to keep enduring this stuff. |
I’m also angry with Nadeau - it’s the same to me where the dominos start to fall, so ok to start with Allen. They both seem perfectly self-focused, indulgent and contemptuous of the people they are meant to serve.
I also think the system is terrible, and that there should be term limits. Statements like defund the police, noiseproof your houses, slaughter of 15 year olds under our watch, murdered on the metro had a bad day, or more often lack of any concern, accountability, humility or human emotion, let alone an acknowledgment or attempt to solve any of the issues which have the whole neighborhoods circling the drain. They are completely unimportant to me now that I’ve seen them in action/inaction. And I want them out. I truly do not care who comes or if no one does. I think they benefit only themselves. |
Even the language they use is a huge red flag: traffic calming for a sidewalk or a traffic sign, justice-involved for someone with a record, and refusing to utter the word “crime” for about 3 years. |
Making sure that Allen doesn’t darken any political office door again after his disastrous stint in DC is more important to me than whether the recall succeeds. I think that’s been accomplished.
What hasn’t been accomplished is that I want him to apologize. I want him to see what his policies have done and the devastation of the families, like Vasquez, Gill, Cunningham. That won’t happen because this man has no interest in examining his record. Finally, I hate how they talk — demagoguery is reminiscent of the oppressive regimes. It’s group think and no tolerance or interest in the opposing views. It’s only playing to the primary and it’s disgusting, I hope the Dems spit him out and Nadeau next. The reason I think recall has a chance is because people are strongly motivated by hurt and anger, and the Allen supporters don’t have a just cause. |
