Same premise, different company. AS will grab higher talent as they get into the older age group, and AU will drop off. AS is geared towards recruiting whereas AU is geared towards the girls getting to meet some of the pro players they love |
. American Select is a HS recruiting event that just came down to the middle school. It won’t be a recruiting event at the middle school level however, so similar to AU with regional teams playing against each other |
Thanks. Do both AS and AF cut players or does everyone pretty much make it? |
Everyone pretty much makes it. Maybe a handful of kids get cut. |
AS cut a small number, but the older you get, the more they cut AU has not cut in the past |
The MD teams are a little more selective, but at the Middle school level, there's basically no cuts. American Select is new to the 28 year this year, plus AS is designed for recruiting which nothing is happening around the 28s for that. |
| AS takes 22 players. 20 field plus two goalies. There are absolutely cuts assuming more than 22 girls show up. 27's had about 50 girls show up so more than half didn't make it. |
Great, go post on the 27 forum |
They've done two teams before, sometimes they've done three teams. |
Maybe in other regions but not in the DC-VA region. |
| Not to rip on anybody, but just looking at this objectively if 3 Yellowjackets and 3 NL made this AS team, how competitive could it really have been? Seems like some really good players from Stars and Pride and that is it. |
|
“Not to rip on anyone but…”
That’s exactly what you just did |
Oh please - it was a comment about the competitiveness of the tryouts. NL and YJ are not competitive compared to the MD A teams or Pride. Get a grip. |
Well, it is a fair question |
I think the poster was trying to be helpful clown. |
