Plenty of drunken idiots throwing up on Yale campus on Friday and Saturday nights.

I met plenty of losers who attended Yale. Not all were top students.

Did one of them puke on you or something? That’s a lot of resentment packed into a few sentences.

Lots of parents that send there kids off to yale and harvard and columbia are a little surprised and disappointed at all the drinking and puking. You think these places are more special and different than they are in fact. All great schools but they are still full of puking undergrads like all the rest.

Harvard and Yale a tier above Columbia. Columbia is peers with Penn

And your reasoning behind this statement?

If this isn't apparent to you, you are lost. Harvard and Yale both have endowments above $30B+. Columbia isn't even worth $10B

Ivy parents rarely criticize other ivies because it’s not unusual see their family members attend different ivies. As an example, when the pandemic hit, it hit Harvard students just as hard as it hit everyone else. Many Harvard interns and graduates whose jobs were rescinded were crowdsourcing internships and jobs from parents of their school. The crowd-sourcing google doc made its way to Columbia parents by way of a Columbia parent who also had a kid at Harvard. Ivy parents might work together - but they don’t bicker over who is number #1. The PP touring Harvard , Yale and bashing Columbia has no ties to any of these schools.

+1. Real ivy parents are better than that. Also they are most likely not unemployed who stay on DCUM 24/7 and ready to take a jab at Columbia whenever wherever they can

-1. Everyone who is being honest can agree Columbia is a phenomenal school but not deserving of a #2 ranking. Columbia occupies the tier just below HYPSM.

Except Columbia would have a tier of its own. Chicago and Penn aren’t as selective nor academically elite as Columbia.

I think Columbia College > Penn A&S, but Wharton > Columbia College

Wharton is a categorically different school. Can’t compare

Most elite colleges don’t have an undergrad business school and are doing just fine. Harvard Yale Princeton MIT Stanford Columbia Chicago Duke etc.

We should call Columbia the poor ivy

Call Columbia the poor man’s Ivy. Too many colored folks and immigrants on scholarships, IMO it really diluted the school’s eliteness, unlike Princeton or Dartmouth.

+1. Our parents probably didn’t think that Stanford is in the same level as HYP. Our kids will probably say to our grandchildren that UPenn isn’t in the same level as CHYMPS.

This is very true. Stanford really changed from being the HYP backup school to HYPS in thirty years. I wonder how long it would take Columbia to join that acronym, or Penn for that matter. Both have the strongest potential to become a peer school, and already are, in quite a few different aspects.

You are a racist piece of crap. Get out of this forum, please. Education is one of the only opportunities that we can work towards racial equality in this country, and you’re saying that those marginalized people having access to the nation’s best schools diminish the school’s prestige. Your arguments about Columbia not being at the level of HYPSM is all nonsense now. You just don’t like Columbia because your ideal concept of a school is probably a only for WASPs country club style prep school. No wonder your hatred towards Columbia was extreme.

I'm not PP but Columbia and Cornell are the only Ivies I know first-hand who've admitted URMs in recent years with completely mediocre stats. Athletes and non-athletes with stats that weren't close to UVA or VTech requirements. Everyone in our orbit was like w-t-f.

Wtf? This is the single most uninformed, and racist post I’ve seen on this forum. Now I see where the hatred towards Columbia comes from. I wonder if the same poster who’s been complaining about veterans and non traditional students.
