The Columbia-obsessed reject really LOVES bring up Columbia in just about every single thread when no one else did. I thought the conversation was dying down and moved on to about endowments and international reputation when you interjected with yet another biased statement like this. Anyone would be lucky to go to one of the four schools of equal caliber and I wonder whether OP got rejected from all four of them? |
This small-minded infighting over which of elite schools are no. 1, no. 2, no. 3 etc is hilarious and pathetic at the same time. These micro-rankings are meaningless. Get a life. |
Even within the HYPS, the distribution of student caliber is quite... wide. Not a Columbia grad, but Princeton is a lot closer to Penn or Columbia than it is to Harvard or Stanford really. |
Ivy parents rarely criticize other ivies because it’s not unusual see their family members attend different ivies. As an example, when the pandemic hit, it hit Harvard students just as hard as it hit everyone else. Many Harvard interns and graduates whose jobs were rescinded were crowdsourcing internships and jobs from parents of their school. The crowd-sourcing google doc made its way to Columbia parents by way of a Columbia parent who also had a kid at Harvard. Ivy parents might work together - but they don’t bicker over who is number #1. The PP touring Harvard , Yale and bashing Columbia has no ties to any of these schools. |
And yet in the history of admissions, there have been students who for non-financial reasons have done just what you claim no one ever has or ever will. Mind blown! Yes, there are students who think for themselves and make decisions based on things other than rankings and others’ perceptions. Amazing! |
I have absolutely no dog in this fight, but anecdotally, I know quite a couple kids who turned down Columbia for Northwestern. I believe one from DCUM, as well. Several others I know IRL. |
There are quite a few students who get turned down from Princeton but admitted to Harvard, and vice versa. I think your generalization must be intended either to crap on Princeton (not surprising, since it's retained the #1 US News ranking for the 11th year in a row) or to deflect from some of the criticism of Columbia, which admittedly is over-the-top. |
+1. Real ivy parents are better than that. Also they are most likely not unemployed who stay on DCUM 24/7 and ready to take a jab at Columbia whenever wherever they can ![]() |
-1. Everyone who is being honest can agree Columbia is a phenomenal school but not deserving of a #2 ranking. Columbia occupies the tier just below HYPSM. |
Real ignorance on display with your observation that Yale's student body is comprised of weirdos, misfits, and dopes. |
You are displaying stupidity and ignorance with your assessment of the Yale student body as losers and vomiting drunken idiots. Please stop. By the way I did not post the puking post. |
We also had a kid who got into both Columbia and NWU for engineering, and chose NWU. |
|
Correct |
Except Columbia would have a tier of its own. Chicago and Penn aren’t as selective nor academically elite as Columbia. |
