I dont blame Reid. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place but still made sure that the Hayfield students that didn't get their senior night at the last regular season home game were able to get it at the home playoff game.

And it turns out that the majority of this small number of kids who got "verified" were the five kids at the same address?!

Hayfield referred 14 students to Gatehouse for residency checks in May 2024. Gatehouse didn’t complete the residency checks until August 26, 2024.
Reid announced on August 27 that the players were cleared. On August 29, the three skeptical school board members asked for an outside investigation but were voted down.

The Hayfield letter to VHSL says “shared housing is leveraged as an affordable living option for some families, particularly in urban areas with high cost housing…shared housing is not evidence that any family intends for their residency to be less than permanent and thus is not evidence of violation of the Transfer Rule (28A-7).”

Dont fall for it. This is what Reid wants everyone to focus on and the narrative strategy of her 3 letters- for everyone to focus on residency. The residency does NOT matter, but if she can get everyone fighting over that, she hopes they focus on the only 2 things that do matter and that are slam dunks - the violations for recruiting and spirit of game.

Reid’s new narrative strategy is to continue to mention the irrelevant eligibility and now also say that the college landscape changing so VHSL rules don’t work anymore. She is running FCPS by picking the rules she wants to agree or ignore with at the time.

She should have no vote of confidence from any family in FCPS that’s not the parent of the Hayfield starting football team. The time and $ on this mess that she could and should have stopped long before is staggering. Parents of students who are having problems other than whether they can play a football game, how heard do you feel right now? Thanks Reid and School Board for putting one principal’s football dream above everything else.

It's is an old boy networ, minus Reid, everyone in this scandal knew each other before coming to Hayfield. Overton's former district athletic supervisor is now an AP at Hayfield. Boyd and Thompson worked together previously. Several are part of the same fraternity.
Overton used an unauthorized source to collect from funds. The owner of the source, a friend, made money off of the school fundraiser and has never accounted for missing money.
Overton's assistance coaches and team mom were found jobs at Hayfield.
Overton did not work within the establishment of FCPS/Hayfield he brought in his rules, his ways and said to help with the established rules and regulations.
Thompson, Overton, and Boyd need to go. Hayfield cannot begin to heal until they are gone.

Corrected above as dropped word. The TLDR is Reid as the head of FCPS is teaching our kids lying and cheating is fine if you win. This has to stop.

Can you explain what you mean about the eligibility being irrelevant? And the college landscape changing? How would that affect county residency rules?

This has been well documented from summer/fall and FCPS brushed under table to shut down the additional collected but had already happened.

Yes, between a rock and a hard place. She was so far into this. Knew about the texts BUT what about all those other seniors that were probably there for 4 years and had nothing to do with this? They deserved their recognition.

At least two violations of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. And, as the two individuals in question were likely minors, illegally leveraging the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act to gain entry into Hayfield likely automatically green-lit them for federal assistance like SNAP, meaning they likely committed welfare fraud as well.

Yes - and the same thing is happening now (Nov 2024). Reid is AGAIN simply suggesting that her own organization/employee conduct ANOTHER internal investigation to "really uncover" what happened. Simply inexplicable - wasn't appropriate the first time and yet doubling down on doing exact same thing again in hopes that people will let it go.. "I strenously object your Honor...."

She’s going to hold community listening sessions though!

If she really cared about the kids she never would've let this gang of cheating a holes get as far as they did.
