Yep.

I want to know what the legal bills were to fcps for defending hayfield before the vhsl, writing that long letter from the "principa", etc.

14 guesses….

There were 31 transfers so thats 31 possibilities

DP. Only 14 claimed to be homeless.

Only 2 did. Go back and read. Or google the FXTimes article

So did the other 29 claim to live with a grandparent or aunt or friend? And was the original investigation from back in August a complete and utter lie?

With 29, there are variations of what happened. Some families flat out moved (they were renting, lease was up, so they moved to Kingstowne). Others switched custody from one parent in Freedoms district to another parent in Hayfields district. Those are probably legal from a residency standpoint.

Then there are the 5 registered to a single address (referenced in the Hayfield letter to VHSL). And the fake homeless (mentioned in Fairfax Times article).

But don’t get distracted by the few parents who insist their move complied with residency requirements. Under VHSL rules, the mass moves violated the recruitment rule, regardless of whether each individual circumstance had a cover story.

For the custody switchers, the child actually has to live with the new parent.

Vhsl requires the entire family to move and establish their new residence in the district. I doubt everyone did that.

I agree that “everyone” (meaning all 31) did not. That’s why I referenced the 5 players registered to the same address.

But I will note that there is a certain DCUM demographic that does not understand how transient LMC life is in northern Virginia. If you rent, changing residences is an 8 hour exercise.

The term "good old boy network" is incorrect. A "good ol' boy," was originally s phrase used in the South. "Billy doesn't think sometimes but deep down he's a good old boy," meaning sometimes someone does something foolish but they aren't bad people. The opening line to the Dukes of Hazzard theme song explains it pretty well.

The term is actually "old boy network. " An old boy network means"an informal system of support and friendship through which men use their positions of influence to help others who went to the same school or college as they did or who share a similar social background.
"many managers were chosen by the old boy network".

What appears to have been happening at Hayfield does fit the description of an old boy network.

Team with only the race card to play strikes again. The fact this is the only card that continues to be played speaks volumes.

White supremacy was a thing years ago, but today's racism is different. The cheating by Overton and his people makes them victims, but the white preppy AD had to flee the country to avoid hanging. Welcome to 2024.

You are actually saying that now in 2024, racism against black people is a thing of the past and the new victim of racism is the poor white male? You are absolutely delusional. White privelege on full display right here.

DP. From what I’ve heard, many in the Hayfield community do not think very highly of the director of activities who abruptly resigned and fled overseas.

That’s an accurate statement on him. Ive got a buddy who works there and AD was unpopular. But the school
Principal is also pretty unpopular and runs a good old boys type network too

He’s not a good old boy so that’s not possible.

Hey look, someone commenting who doesn’t fully understand the terminology being used…

Yeah you. A good old boy is a racist southerner. He can’t be racist because he’s not part of the dominant society. He could support the racists, but he can’t be one.

If you are saying he’s is a black bigot, he could be that and he could be prejudice towards some other group. He could be a bigot, but I haven’t heard any evidence to support that.

I teach in LCPS and Scott Ziegler went down for less than this a couple years ago. I don’t see how Reid gets through this without resigning or the school board pushing her out. It affects every single athletic team that Hayfield plays, involves falsifying data tied to federal funding, runs afoul of multiple VHSL regulations, and calls into question the entirety of the county’s residency numbers. She really should not continue as superintendent.

Huh? Ziegler went down for covering up sexual assaults. That’s less than this?

That’s not accurate. His wording when asked a question about an ongoing investigation he could not speak about was vague. He actually went down for other stuff- retaliation against employees for unrelated issues. Charges were eventually dropped on all but he was still fired. We could go round and round on this but ultimately he handled that case as Title IX and LCSO and the law required given the perpetrator was an unconvicted juvenile - the coverage of the entire thing greatly muddied the waters and reduced a complicated situation to “Ziegler covered it up.” Mind you, it was correct for him to go, but the public’s perception of that entire case is greatly distorted from the reality.

To my original point: as a superintendent, Reid’s actions HERE are unjustifiable and worthy of resignation or dismissal

In fact, the Hayfield letter to VHSL defended five at the same address as evidence of the expensive nature of northern Virginia housing.

Wait, let me see if I understand this. Over the summer, people in the know at Hayfield request an investigation of a large number of potentially ineligible transfers. Instead of setting up an impartial outside investigation, FCPS decides to carry out the invesigation themselves. Of the 30 kids, they conduct a surprise drop-in of a sample to see if they are actually living at their alleged address. And it turns out that the majority of this small number of kids who got "verified" were the five kids at the same address?!

This is beyond cynical. This isn't even following the letter of the law,

Morning all. It’s been about 12 hours since I last checked this so I’ve just got one quick question: has it been found that Overton and the freedom/hayfield transfers committed any more federal crimes yet or is it still too early?
Anonymous
PP, is the Nike contract deal being investigated? Mentioned in the texts.

Because most people don’t care about this the way you do. Not on DCUM, not on Twitter, not on Change.org

Yes, there are plenty of lessons to be learned but your efforts to drum up attention and support to get Reid and the SB will fail. You should probably start thinking about another way to stall the boundary review process, which is the real motivation for this “accountability” some of you are so desperately seeking.

The visits were hot drop ins, they were called ahead of time and told they were being visited.
It's is an old boy networ, minus Reid, everyone in this scandal knew each other before coming to Hayfield. Overton's former district athletic supervisor is now an AP at Hayfield. Boyd and Thompson worked together previously. Several are part of the same fraternity.
Overton used an unauthorized source to collect from funds. The owner of the source, a friend, made money off of the school fundraiser and has never accounted for missing money.
Overton's assistance coaches and team mom were found jobs at Hayfield.
Overton did not work within the establishment of FCPS/Hayfield he brought in his rules, his ways and said to help with the established rules and regulations.
Thompson, Overton, and Boyd need to go. Hayfield cannot begin to heal until they are gone.

Correct.

Hayfield referred 14 students to Gatehouse for residency checks in May 2024. Gatehouse didn’t complete the residency checks until August 26, 2024.
Reid announced on August 27 that the players were cleared. On August 29, the three skeptical school board members asked for an outside investigation but were voted down.

The Hayfield letter to VHSL says “shared housing is leveraged as an affordable living option for some families, particularly in urban areas with high cost housing…shared housing is not evidence that any family intends for their residency to be less than permanent and thus is not evidence of violation of the Transfer Rule (28A-7).”

And when wrote 1st 2nd and 3rd letters to entire FCPS trying to frame narrative she wanted everyone to embrace, she knew she was writing lies.

Yes - and the same thing is happening now (Nov 2024). Reid is AGAIN simply suggesting that her own organization/employee conduct ANOTHER internal investigation to "really uncover" what happened. Simply inexplicable - wasn't appropriate the first time and yet doubling down on doing exact same thing again in hopes that people will let it go.. "I strenously object your Honor...."
