I think most people outside of Britain will always consider him a Prince. Just like they did with his mother (as a Princess). The technicalities will be forgotten.

He remains a prince. He will use the Duke of Sussex title, but he was born a prince and remains one.

Also they retain the HRH titles. They just agreed to not use them because they aren't working as royals. They can go back to using them if they go back to working as royals.

And I'm pretty sure that Harry is very happy with this arrangement. He has wanted out of his role as a senior role since he was in his 20s. This is as much his idea as Meghan's idea.

He’ll be busy lobbying Hollywood for voiceover work and acting gigs for his wife and himself.

Did you see the second video of him begging for voiceover work for M for the Lion King? So thirsty. I never knew he was so pathetic.

She got a Disney contract for voice over work. You can call it pathetic if you want to, but it worked.

They can't go to events unless invited, they aren't part of even the outer-inner circle. If Meghan starts acting again or peddling wares, then don't they lose whatever veneer of class they had?

They have more than enough cash to live very quiet lives, but what are they going to do with themselves to keep busy? Charity work, but without the HRH-ness will they have the same pull and cache as charity celebrities?

I predict that after the Queen dies and Charles becomes king, they might try to reintegrate in a lesser official role.

Meghan's going to act and be a spokesperson and start a lifestyle company and do some work for charities. Paltrow and Winfrey made huge amounts of money doing lifestyle companies and if she does one that is half as successful she will be very wealthy. Harry will join a bunch of boards and be a spokesperson and do some work for charities and maybe help with the lifestyle stuff.

Meghan’s acting will be very limited to things like guest appearances. It will be very very minimal and for visibility only. She will not take on any real roles beyond voiceover work like she’s doing for Disney.

She has experience running lifestyle brands from her time as an actress and will continue to do so on a much, much larger scale. Their foundation will essentially be a lifestyle brand. I agree that Harry will join many boards.

They have so many different options for generating income, I don’t see how they won’t land on their feet. Also the time to do this is NOW. Their earning potential is at its peak right now and probably for the next 5 - 10 years. This was a very smart move.

I don't know. I think its 50/50 that she will dump Harry.

I imagine all of us posting on here are boring middle class people so we judge others and make predictions based on our own life experiences. But I've noticed that the very wealthy and especially the celebrity world operates under a very different set of parameters when it comes to relationships. The rates of divorces among celebs is astonishingly high. They seem to swap partners every few years. And I think it's due to egos. You have to have a big ego to be driven to become a celeb. And then you live in a world of constant adulation and praises and thr flashing cameras of the red carpets, which adds both its pressures onto relationships as well as refueling the egos.

Meghan came out of this celeb world. She's already been divorced. She effectively dumped her ex when she met Harry. And she already came from a divorced family too. And all that will have an impact on how she approaches relationships. Her mindset will be attuned to different things than most of us think about, it will be more about her and less about the partner (Harry in this case). It will be about her needs and feelings and less his. She will be less interested in working things out and more eager to bail quickly. We already see this attifude showing itself in his royal stepping back.

So we will see. I did find it intriguing that Meghan's mother, Doria, was quoted saying Meghan would be all right because she's strong. Doria didn't say the couple would be all right. Or the family. But Meghan. Its about Meghan first and foremost.

Disney puts her out on the red carpet for whatever project as a "real princess." American girls go bananas. Meghan uses the Disney publicity to flog her family centered lifestyle brand.

So they're going to capitalize on the royal status to shake down people for cash?

You're effectively saying they are going to use the foundation to make money for themselves...

They have a very fine line to walk without seeming like greedy Kardashians or the sleazy grifters like the Clintons. I wish them luck.

Ha! In the video all Harry did was ask if Disney was aware Meghan did voiceover work? Disney CEO said he hadn’t known that. Within weeks Meghan had a signed deal to do voiceover work for Disney.

If all it takes to get lucrative contracts is a 30 second conversation at events they’re attending anyways, they will be making millions in no time at all.

Once again, you are admitting they are going to abuse the royal (or ex royal) status to make money. That is the crux of the matter behind the whole scandals insofar as we call it scandal.

I think everyone on both sides is happy with the arrangement, even after the initial sadness of seeing him go. And I agree he was in the driver’s seat on this, may have even planned it since the engagement. They really bungled up the execution but they’ll be ok. You only get one life.

There’s a new video where Harry begs Jon Favreau about M being in the lion king. It’s not the Iger video. It’s truly pathetic.

What scandal?

The queen openly issued a statement of support. Harry and Meghan are happy, the queen specifically said she supports their decision to become financially independent - meaning they are going to WORK.

The only scandal regarding Harry’s family exists in your overactive imagination.

Isn’t it funny that it’s the same old trolls who were saying that she just wanted to just join the royal family and sponge who are now outraged that they’ve had the stones to leave?

I've always loved Harry... until this. I lost all respect for him. As for Megan, I was a fan at first but she lost me at the time of her wedding. Between the tiara story and there being more celebrity friends she just met/never met than family and old friends at her wedding, I began to see her for what her father, sister and old friends say she is. I honestly believe she'd have as much negative press- or at least close to as much- if she was 100% white instead of biracial. She had a lot of negative traits for a royal bride- she's American, an actress and divorced. They were going to crucify her no matter what for these alone. Diana and Fergie had all the right qualifications to be royal and they crucified them. Kate was white, British and never married and the press were awful to her. But poor Megan couldn't take it. Forget the poor African children she was visiting- nobody asked how she was doing!!!

Harry is making a huge mistake. Megan doesn't want privacy. She wants fame and fortune on her terms. She's achieved fame via her marriage and will now use Harry to beg for work like the voiceover gig so she can achieve fortune. She can't stand not being the center of attention, so she will still court the paparazzi. Harry won't get the privacy or normalcy he desires and will soon understand celebrity is the same prison as royalty, without the protections, perks and comfort he's lived with his whole life. Megan will have everything she's ever wanted and Harry will have nothing.

Same issue: using royalty to increase her stature and make money.

She couldn’t launch a successful brand without marrying him.

SussexRoyal doesn’t work with a D list actress in Canada. But it works with Harry at her side.
