So they're really going to unRoyal themselves?
Sure, okay. Bye. |
|
So if they are leaving the Royal Family to be financially independent, are they basically becoming social media influencers? They want to make appearances and be given money for what reason - just to support their lifestyle?
I have no doubt people will send them money but they should get jobs and live with normal people if that is what they want. |
There is precedent in the UK and other royal families to prune. But he's not a cousin or distant relation. It's a jerk move on his part, IMO. He wants to escape the tabloids but is ditching his brother. |
|
They cannot. Stand. To be out of the spotlight.
Just go and begone, already. |
Maybe he would have stood by his brother if William had stood up for him. 3 years and not a word. Deserves what he gets. |
Yes I agree 100%. Bloody well done escaping the vipers. They have their own family now and I fully appreciate their need to make their own way. She doesn't need to put up with the crap she gets in the UK from the press or anyone else and he has needed to escape that place for years. HURRAH! |

I'm baffled that people are upset about this. Essentially they are saying they will continue to support the queen when she needs them but they won't be on the take like the rest of the non-important royals. Given that Charles has made it clear that he wants to reduce the number of royals who are essentially being provided for, this is a good thing.
They can now work for themselves, raise their son in a manner they see fit, chart their own path. They won't be taking UK tax money so that entire line of "well we are entitled to this because it's our money!" argument is gone. I really applaud them for this. Also, contrary to what everyone seems to think, I believe Harry always wanted to take this route. I think his feelings on the press, media coverage and everything that goes along with being in the public eye have been clear. |
Agree. I really don't understand the extreme love or hate for her. And none of their children have any realistic chance of becoming the monarch unless something really bad happens. He seems to genuinely enjoy traveling and interacting with all different sorts of people. I think it's a much better use of their time and wealth to develop a foundation to tackle some of our global problems. This also tracks with the Swedish Royal family "downsizing" for the modern age. |
That's not how family works. Or at least family who love each other. |
| I can’t stand her but good for them. |
| Good. I liked them at first but they have become so attention seeking. I hope they find peace. Plus they seem to enjoy the celebrity lifestyle which doesn’t really mesh with the royal family. |
Family who love each other don't stand up for one another? I'd hate to see your family. |

Are they moving out of the royal Residences?
I think it's a really smart move. They've watched their older relatives who need to pathetically beg for money from the Queen. They can't work in the UK, but they certainly can do so in the U.S. and Canada. This also explains the supposed tension between Will and Harry - Will desperately wants Harry/Meghan to remain in the UK to take the heat off the rest of the family. I see them as diplomats operating abroad on behalf of the Royal family. Like I said, this is a very smart move to create a bit of space now that William has a strong line of succession established. |
Yes, all of this. They're keeping their 4-bedroom house on the Windsor Estate. (Since it belongs as a property of the Queen). That's where they'll stay when in the UK. |
| There was literally no drama until Meghan showed up. That’s why I don’t like her. She seems nice enough but she’s trying to beat the royal family and she won’t win. |
