Feedback on Next Level Lacrosse?

Are you telling me they don't expect anyone to change clubs to join DCE above and beyond BLC? You have just verified the entire "The scam that is DC Express" thread if true.

You really are a narrow minded thinker. Wow. Not talking about one or two kids changing teams (that's natural), try 6 or 7 kids in one year. When NL poaches over 30% of your team in one year and offers them under the table discounts or guaranteed spots before tryouts are even held. That is SHADY! Comprende?!

But that's exactly what happened to NL after their WSYL appearance. They lost at least 5 players to ML, Crabs and DCE. Are you capable of reading the whole post?

BLC ends after 7th grade and DCE starts in 8th. So, if kids are leaving ML and NL and others to join DCE then there will be some BLC/Mater Dei kids leaving DCE to go elsewhere.

I get it the DCE team is not as good as you hoped junior but all the clubs do it and NL didn't benefit judging from their record. Your beef is really with ML and Crabs.

That's what happens when you bring the second biggest d-bag from Madlax over to your club. It's only downhill for NL that that guy's there.

Did 6 or 7 move from 2018 to 2019 or are you anticipating movement from Spring 2019 to Fall 2020? There's no roster posted and one more tryout date.

Is it fair to assume they won’t cut anyone from 2021?

This coming year hasn't started yet. Last summer, one year ago.

Did that team win any big tournaments or make the semis/championship bracket in any big tournaments? If the answer is "no" and they are not consistently doing this then I don't think it is safe to assume there will not be cuts or movement. This goes for any club by the way. Clubs are about winning and recruiting, it's what drives the machine.

I don’t think NL cuts anyone after making the team.

During the year, I'd agree, but they definitely cut people from year to year as better players come along.

Does NL have a college recruitment coordinator?

Anyone go to the NL tryouts this past week? They are having a "first look" tryout this month and a main tryout in August. Unfortunately, I know kids from other teams who have already received letters from NL offering them spots. This is before the final tryout and, of course, before the DCE tryouts this weekend. Sounds similar to last year, NL trying to poach players again. Wonder how much of a discount they are offering to pull players over to their teams?

I’m sorry. How is that poaching?

Right. If a kid shows up to another club’s tryouts and makes it, that is not poaching.

Think we may need to understand the definition of the word poach a little more. What NL, DCE, BLC, Madlax or all the clubs do is not poaching. Clubs want the best players, they offer spots to those players. There is no law or regulation that says offers for club spots need to happen after "official" tryout dates. Clubs change rosters and kids move teams fairly regularly. Clubs want the best players and kids want the best opportunity to win and be seen at the best tournaments. From a club perspective if you do not have the top team in a given grade you likely will be trying to improve your roster. From a kids point of view you are going to move to be on the best team possible where you get decent field time. This is really not that hard to understand. Right or wrong club lacrosse is not a developmental system, there is no loyalty given by the clubs nor should their be an expectation of loyalty from the players to the clubs.

Totally agree.
