And vice versa. |
| Didn't NL have a team in PG County a few years back? |
They bought a team from PG, took the top kids and essentially killed the team. |
| It's interesting to me that neither the Mitchells nor Heeter played major college lacrosse. I do think they are some of the best coaches from both strategy and inspiration that I've seen. I just think of all these former major college players and even pros who try to prop up these club teams who end up failing. |
I think they are good people and know the game don’t have to be a great player to coach true in many sports. However recruiting is not as good as other top clubs. Do they have links to top college coaches? |
| Next Level has mainly private school kids, who benefit from the connections of coaches at places like Landon and Prep. |
+1. Next Level's location generally attracts the private school crowd, it is what it is. I'd argue 80% of the kids on any given roster are kids who are either at Landon, Bullis, Gonzaga, Prep, St Johns, and now DeMatha. |
| How have they done recruiting? The 23 class was supposed to be the strongest behind ML |
I think this is true for any club team. Look at the rosters of ML, DCE, Hawks, Crabs…very few public school kids on any of the rosters. |
The exception to this may be VLC 3 of the four D1 commits are public school kids |
|
A NL 23 middie recently committed to Hofstra, early saw commits to St. Joe (2), Navy, Monmouth, Colgate, Penn (2), Ohio State, Providence, and UMBC.
DMV is spoiled with multiple great club programs to choose from and get exposure to D1 programs. |
| the NL 2025 team is one of best in country. Freshman there are feeding the best private schools in the area. It will be signature team for the club next three years. Stout and deep. |
NL 23 and 24 are far better than the 25’s. Maybe Dave will work some magic to get them up to par with the other age groups, but they are not a “signature team for NL.” |
| 10 D1 commits for NL 2023 has to be the best in club history. This is what it is really all about. DC dogs have 16 VLC now has 6 and DCE has 5. I am not sure any other clubs have any. Middle school parents should take note. |
| How many of those 10 came over this past year from other teams (like from Connecticut)? It's more telling how many of the players who have developed through years with the program have done. Still very well; great team and players. But it's a more accurate picture. |
