DC Soccer Club

DCSC runs a reasonable rec program and should stick to that. Their travel program has never been good. I realize it is a cash cow, but if they just did rec they could have a dramatically smaller staff and just do what they do reasonably well and don't have much competition for. There is no reason a competent soccer player would not move to Achilles, Bethesda, Arlington, or Alexandria unless their family is really unwilling to drive to practices. Carpool! There are a ton of DC families in all those clubs and their teams are much better.

As a parent, what troubles me deeply is not only the clear breach of professional conduct and abuse of power by Michelle Alioto, but also the fact that she knowingly pursued someone who was married. Her actions go far beyond poor judgment, they reflect a complete disregard for the values we expect from those in leadership roles within our community.

I’m writing to ask the DCSC board: By NOT taking immediate and decisive action, such as terminating her position, are you signaling to the DCSC families that this type of behavior is acceptable? Are we supposed to believe that these actions align with the values we want to instill in our children?

Right now, the message being sent is: go ahead with your daily life, coaches keep teaching soccer, but don’t worry about teaching respect, leadership, consequences of your actions, and trust because if our club’s leadership cannot uphold or enforce these standards, why should we expect anyone else to?

Our children are watching. Both boys and girls are learning what is tolerated and what is excused. What are we teaching them when there are no serious consequences for actions that clearly violate the ethics and integrity of the club?

We expect more from those who lead and represent our community. I urge you to take this issue seriously and demonstrate to all families that DCSC stands for what is right on and off the field.

I agree and disagree.

I am one of those families that commutes from NW DC and carpools outside of the city with other families in NW DC but it does not feel good sporting a suburb when you represent the 3 stars. We should have own our thing that represents all 4 quadrants.

Context in business and youth sports
The specific industry or setting does not change the core legal principles and corporate responsibilities.

Business: A company would typically conduct an investigation into the allegations, reviewing texts and interviewing witnesses. The manager would be fired to protect the company from legal action, uphold workplace policies, and maintain a professional environment.

Youth sports: In a youth sports organization, a similar incident would be even more serious due to the nature of supervising children and public trust. A female coach or administrator engaging in such behavior with an employee could face immediate termination and potentially legal repercussions. The organization would need to act swiftly and decisively to protect its reputation and the well-being of its members

In youth sports organizations, there is a heightened legal and ethical obligation to maintain a professional and respectful environment. When concerns arise involving inappropriate comments or advances, particularly from someone in a position of authority, they must be taken seriously, regardless of the genders involved.

Such behavior, if substantiated, can expose the organization to legal liability, reputational harm, and a loss of trust within the community. Prompt, impartial investigation and appropriate corrective action are not only best practices, they are necessary steps to fulfill the organization’s duty of care.

Protecting the integrity of the workplace and the safety of all involved, especially in youth-focused settings, must remain the top priority.

From a developmental perspective, it is important to highlight that the quantity of championships secured by DCSC in the previous 5 years falls significantly short of the volume of legal conflicts and lawsuits they have been required to address. This provides a valuable context. The root of these issues can be traced back to ineffective leadership and weak-willed board members. It is worth questioning why other clubs in MD, VA, or DC are not facing similar challenges. The answer lies in the absence of individuals with General Administration and Legal expertise in their employment which in this case is Andrulis and Alioto.

Hey, what’s the latest on the lawsuit? Any resolution yet?

Totally get where you are coming from. A fresh start sounds like the best path forward for everyone.

What were the other texts? The ones from the videos are not exactly damning, not flirtatious, and not exactly insistant. She is just asking if he wants to share a room, which is fair to say is not exactly appropriate but not to the level of SA. I mean, talking about reversing the situation. How many girls have received that offer from men?
The timeline as I understand it is:
MA sent those txts to TW
Months later, TW steals data and DCSC finds out
TW panicked and claimed SA

Do I have that right? I have no dogs in that fight but I know all the protagonists. Just trying to get the story straight.

TW’s claim is sexual harassment, not assault.

For me, while my child is playing up an age, I’m not worried about the scholarships, competitiveness or anything else and my son is a solid player. He loves the game and I support that over playing video games etc. Maybe some families are looking for their child to go pro and that’s few and far between.

Harassment not assault but yes, that's correct. He stole the clubs data to set up a rival club while still employed by DCSC.
