Fetterman - Oz Debate — anyone keeping tabs on this?

Anonymous
Experts on strokes have repeatedly noted that what his stroke did was result in an auditory processing disorder that will get better over time, and that his cognitive abilities, i.e. intelligence, are in tact. The media is stoking this fear that he's somehow "dumber" since experiencing a stroke, when the experts, albeit buried at the bottom of most articles, state otherwise.

Adding that Dr. Oz had the opportunity to be a decent human being and explain that as a medical professional, to say, hey, I'm not going to medically gaslight him or anyone else, these are the facts, let's be decent humans and debate the issues and give him the needed accommodations in this moment. But of course he didn't do that because he's a POS snake oil salesman.

Nonsense. He got the accommodations he requested, as well as only one debate that should have occurred much sooner than it did.

You Dems basically just want Republican candidates to bend over for your flawed candidates. This is not some football game where the opposing team will step aside so a disabled kid can score a touchdown.

Oz was a decent human being and just pretended that everything was OK. He didn’t question Fetterman on his physical ability, just his policies as appropriate. Unfortunately for Fetterman, he didn’t have to. It was in plain sight.

Nonsense yourself. He has the cognitive ability to do the job, according to the experts, not sideliners thinking they know more than the experts. Dr. Oz is capitalizing on his his being a DOCTOR and yet he's spreading misinformation or staying silent, depending on the situation, to get a leg up politically. He's a POS. No one is saying Fetterman should get preferential treatment. No one is giving it to him. But way to take a parting shot at kids with disabilities. You must feel so proud of that wittiness at the expense of children. Nice going.

The alternative isn’t great but at least he has the cognitive ability to understand the issues and communicate his thoughts. Putting Fetterman through this electoral process seems cruel.

Sure, Oz’s cognitive ability will see women getting medical care administered in Wegners by local political leaders

Don't forget the salsa and tequila for the crudités while you're there!

With a side of raspberry ketones!

Oz made a few cracks at the debate about it and talked WAY faster than he usually does to make it hard for the closed captioning to work.

Agree bc my understanding is that Ds are more likely to vote by mail.

Which is why he should release his medical records to confirm this.

Agree even though accommodations would’ve been part of the negotiated debate terms. There was a way to give a nod to the condition without being demeaning.

The debate is going down in history. It was never about policy. But whether the Democratic Party did deliberately orchestrate a cover up around the stroke and suppressed it and lied to voters about it aided and abetted by the media. A lot of damage was done and many people will not forget it.

If people were grown ups, Fetterman should have stepped aside after the stroke and another primary held. There was plenty of time. But it's clear senior Democratic operatives and the Fetterman campaign had talks to hide the extent of the stroke damage and with plans to either push him aside after the election for the new governor to appoint his wife or someone safe to the seat, or even just have his wife be the de factor senator.

A great deal of dishonesty was revealed with the debate. And it's a shame. It made a mockery out of the political system.

Have his wife take over for Fetterman? Quite the imagination there. You sound unhinged, PP.

Because it hasn’t happened before? And honestly that does make sense now that I think on it - if Fetterman wins and voluntarily steps down the PA Gov can appoint anyone they want through the next special election. Just like the Governor of Georgia did with Kelly Loeffler. - NP

I asked about this possibility at the beginning of the thread and I got no response. I wanted to know the PA/fed process when someone steps down or dies while in office. Is the position decided by the governor or is there another election. So many times we’ve seen a spouse take over.

https://www.senate.gov/senators/AppointedSenators.htm

PA Governor is one of 37 states with the power to appoint. The appointment lasts til the next statewide general election - in this case 2024.

I am one of the PA residents who posted at the beginning of the thread. I have met Gisele and like her. I actually like her better than her husband (who did not get my vote in the primary but is getting my vote in the general bc of who his opponent is). I would be very unhappy if (hopefully) future Governor Shapiro appoints Giselle. If it is up to Wolf, who knows who he would appoint?

It won’t be up to Wolf because by the time Fetterman is a Senator if he wins, Wolf won’t be Governor anymore. But I don’t see Fetterman resigning, two different Senators had strokes this year, recovered and returned to service. And all three of them are way younger than the average Senator.

You're not going to need to worry about whether he will resign or not because it doesn't look like he will win.
