if she is from a "safe" district she can continue to make controversial comments, but I still say her wording is often ambiguous. She's a pretty good politician already. They're famous for making comments that give them some wiggle room and a degree of plausible deniability.

I provided evidence in the first post of this thread. She compared her Jewish constituents feels for Israel to her children's passion for Somalia:

This is fairly accurate, though she does say that Trump is much worse. She is also fearful of impeachment because she thinks Pence would be even worse than Trump. Same here. And, the fact that she is slamming the liberal hero, Obama, is actually a bit humorous. I'm not surprised that she would disparage any Republican president. Or, any Republican at all. When she goes after Obama it seems she doesn't care who she pisses off.

Perhaps more importantly, when she goes after Obama, it clearly communicates that she cares broadly and deeply for humanity and is totally willing to place that concern over tribal loyalty to her party.

There's no winning in this case.

Until the day comes when religion is a thing of the past (and no one will convince me that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict isn't rooted in religious beliefs), most of us will want to find our tribe.

Please distinguish between mostly and always. While tribalism is ubiquitous, it does get transcended: why do you think U.S. political discussions are no longer just for/by WASP guys?

BTW, I was using tribal to highlight the way Democratic Party partisans seldom criticize BHO/HRC/Pelosi/etc. That omertà is inherently dismissive of larger human concerns.

With this uproar, all I can say is that the punishment does not fit the crime. Talk about issues she raised should be tolerated.
