Omar needs to own her stuff and stop acting like she doesn't fully intend to throw bombs with her incendiary comments. She knows what she's doing and then quickly plays the victim. She needs to stop playing dumb when the result draws negative reactions. She is an elected official, which means every word will be scrutinized, and she is fair game for political criticism. Though she thinks she deserves to be, she is not exempt because she's a Muslim.

I hardly think Nadler is concerned about a bunch of random Twitter users. He hasn't been shy about criticizing Omar in the past. Do you really think that Nadler would risk upsetting his own constituents -- you know, the folks who actually vote for or against him -- out of fear of criticism from social media users? Unlike a lot of the posters in this thread, Nadler actually understood what Omar was saying and is not engaging in manufactured outrage.

When it's a global leader avidly supported by trump, it's a fair question. the left is honestly grappling with anti-semitism on the left, as well as the new realities of Israel. the right is cynically exploiting anti-semitism. it's pretty transparent.
