The latest word is that the vote is postponed and the bill will not also condemn anti-Islam prejudice.

Well, they should include anti-Christian prejudice, anti-Hinduism prejudice, and anti-Buddhism bias just to cover all the bases.

She's a woman, she's young and she is a Muslim.

It's disgraceful.

And a person of color. Doomed to judgement by legions of jerks the second she came out of the womb.

Does she identify as a POC or you making a racist assumption about her?

I actually think she has been handled with kid gloves after the last dust-up because she was a WOC and muslim. If a white male had said he would be a pariah immediately (Steve King) but she gets warnings and even AOC sticking up for her.

Where there is smoke there is fire. She has only been in congress two months and has already had several instances of possible anti-Semitic leanings.

The anti-Semitic accusations are the usual ridiculous hysteria that accompanies any accusation of Israel. Didn’t the house just pass a bill that allows for states to boycott businesses that are boycotting Israel for its treatment of Palestinians? Our elected officials thought it was so important to protect a foreign government that this was the first bill they passed this year? And people have the audacity to think Omar is wrong to say that Congress is bought and paid for by AIPAC and its affiliates?

Well it is a fact that Jews have automatic dual Israeli citizenship.

That's really immaterial. Omar doesn't care if Jews support Israel. She considers that similar to her own family's support for Somalia. Her issue is that she is being forced to support Israel and not allowed to criticize those applying the pressure.

This is America - no one can force her to share their views or not allow her to express her own. However, she cannot force people to agree with her or to not critique her views.

Oh really? If I boycott Israel because I disapprove of their treatment of Palestinians, state governments are now allowed to boycott my business. Doesn’t that strike you as the government using financial pressure to suppress free speech all in the name of a foreign government? Does that align with your American ideals in any way whatsoever?

It is an anti-semitic trope to say that Jews have bought our Congress. Read a history book if you don't believe that a person in power making such claims is dangerous.

She is being forced in the sense that she will be punished if she doesn't support Israel and her criticism of AIPAC has resulted in her being called an anti-Semite even though AIPAC officials have said the same thing.

But, here are ways that government in the US is punishing people who don't stand up for Israel's interests:

1) https://www.npr.org/2018/12/26/680129742/texas-school-employee-suing-over-pro-israel-oath

A teacher was fired from her job because she refused to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel.

2) https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/publisher-embroiled-legal-battle-arkansas-over-law-banning-israel-boycotts-n977771

A newspaper in Arkansas loses advertising from the University of Arkansas because he refused to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel.

When Omar criticized Marco Rubio's bill that allows this sort of suppression of US citizens' 1st Amendment rights, she was called and anti-Semite.

You are wrong. What she said is absolutely an anti semitic trope. Again, read a history book. Please.

Here is an AIPAC official saying that it is all about the Benjamins:

"Congressmen and senators don’t do anything unless you pressure them. They kick the can down the road, unless you pressure them, and the only way to do that is with money."

https://theintercept.com/2019/02/11/ilhan-omar-israel-lobby-documentary/

Right on its own website, AIPAC recruits people to donate $5,000 per election cycle:

https://www.aipac.org/act/congressional-club

While saying that pro-Israel groups have "bought" Congress oversimplifies the reasons why Israel is popular in Congress, the role of pro-israel money cannot be denied.

Don’t be obtuse.....the pro-Israel lobby has bought Congress, not the Jews. Do you understand the difference or does your hair trigger accusation of anti semitism cloud your thinking?

Was it anti-Semitic when an AIPAC official said it?

1. Teacher should win this lawsuit
2. This sounds tricky legally is the university of Arkansas is a publically funded school.
3.never heard of this.

GOP shenanigans should not be viewed as the gold standard for what is acceptable. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.
