No, he is calling US citizens “losers and haters”. Nice try though. |

This poll sort of confirms what I had posted earlier in this thread
https://www.jewishelectorateinstitute.org/poll-domestic-issues-dominate-the-priorities-of-the-jewish-electorate/ Trump is unpopular with most American Jews and his Israel policy mostly appeals to Evangelicals. The Jews that support him are in the minority, and further, opposing the Israeli Government is not antisemitic. |
Really interesting findings. There is a definitely a "silent majority" undercurrent of dissatisfaction with Trump. However, this is VERY interesting. Disapproval of Trump is highest among those who are closest in age to the Holocaust. Younger American Jewish people have more favorable views toward Trump, relative to the Silent/Greatest Generation. It's a visual representation of not learning the lessons of history.

More significant than the difference between age groups is the difference between levels of Jewish observance. The really religious ones, the one who most strongly identify with their Jewishness, approve of Trump, while the less religious Jews disapprove. That also explains why Jews get so angry when they are told they are bad Jews for supporting Trump (which I've seen here a few times): basically, you have Jews who don't follow the traditional laws telling observant Jews that they are bad Jews. On a broader level, you have liberals telling conservatives they're bad. They know the observant Jews take their Jewishness seriously, so calling them "bad Jews" is just a way to attack them where they live. It's extra mean. |

Maybe you folks could start a new thread to talk about Trump and Jews rather than hijacking a thread about a Muslim?
|
Are you talking to me? That other poster showed a chart that was 50% about Jews. The chart didn't show breakdown by the degree which observant Christians approve of Trump, or I'd talk about that. But it could be an interesting topic. Why would religious Jews support Trump, and non-religious ones not? Maybe I'll start that one. |
I am talking to both posters who are engaged in the off-topic conversation. The chart was 100% about Jews, not 50%. |
Shocker, another liberal on dcurban moms misinterprets the data. |

So Omar deleted this tweet b/c of backlash.
Cruz's response to the deleted tweet below:
thoughts? microaggression on her part or no? good intention, but poor word choice? misinterpretation of her message by conservatives? |
My thought is that if someone uses race as a basis for argument, it's a racist action no matter which direction the argument is being taken. I know Omar is trying to show that she is inclusive, but to argue that a merit-based immigration system is racist to Latin-American immigrants is a pretty racist observation, essentially suggesting that Latin-American immigrants are somehow unable to compete based on merit. |
I see that point as well, which makes me think her comment is a microaggression. I dislike that term, by the way, as it's overused. But in this case, it's applicable. So many people here praise Canada, which has merit-based immigration - https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/16/politics/merit-based-immigration-explainer/index.html
I think she speaks before thinking. She's impulsive, and when you don't allow yourself time to process your thoughts, sometimes the "truth" does come out. |
|
Omar was foist by her own petard on that tweet saying that latinx immigrants can't comptete in a merit based system. LOL I'm sure AOC will be out soon to cape for her though so all will be good.
Bigotry of low expectations! |
Exactly! It would be the same if someone said it is unfair to Africans to have a merit-based immigration system that favors people likely to contribute to society. It's saying Africans have less to contribute, which is racist. |
