None of the PPs. I don't understand all the vitriol. Just have an adult conversation. |
+1000. That's such a bully tactic. "Name them; if you don't, you must be lying."

We were with Barcelona last year and had a good experience, in general. Some of the back and forth here seems a bit extreme, but I understand how parents can get that way sometimes when they see things they really like or really don't and want to make a point.
Most of the parents at Barcelona do not seem to be overly political or lobby coaches. I'm sure a few may have tried, but I don't think it would have been many based on the folks I know. I understand how people might think there was some social engineering or at least attempts, because there are so many around here who have made careers on it, but that would also be true anywhere else in the DC area. I don't see how anyone could say it's a negative here vs. other places though. I saw a few examples of head scratchers in terms of kids playing up/down or where it didn't seem to fit, but I'm sure the coaches had their reasons for putting those kids in those places. In most cases it seemed to me that kids were playing at an appropriate level for their abilities. The one thing I think that stands out is that the training is very well organized and run. If you like the Barcelona style of play and want your kid to learn to play that style, there's no better place to do it. And I can't say enough good things about the coaching that my kid received. At the end of the day, the most important thing is for you to find an environment best suited to your player. The environment includes the training style and intensity, the other players & personalities, coaches, and many other factors that make up the experience. It's a good thing that Barcelona is another option for the families close to Leesburg and I'm glad we had a chance to be part of their first year. |
I certainly can’t say enough good things about the coaches. No program is perfect, but this program to me is like a breath of fresh air. |
| Does anyone have girls in the program? If so, what ages? |
My daughter is on their U11 team. |
How's it going? |
| Are any of the FCB parents on this board receiving free tuition (meaning not paying) for their kids because their child is very talented? |
Are U11 girls playing any external games? I'm guessing no league games, but maybe some tournaments? Any idea as to the number of girls in the program for that age group? |
She enjoys it. The coaching is good and the girls on the team are very nice. I feel the boys teams are a little bit ahead of the girls teams in terms of executing the style of play, but we could definitely see a big improvement on the girls teams as the season progressed. |
They are planning to play some external friendlies and tournaments in the Fall and will start EDP league in the Spring. |
This is a question for EDP. I don't know how they evaluate the teams for the initial placement. However, unlike MLS, EDP has promotion/relegation so if a team does not perform well enough, it will be moved to a lower division the next season. If a team performs well, it moves to a higher division. Bethesda South 03 team, for example, moved down from the top division to the 3rd division within a year or so. Other teams moved up. |
NCSL also has pro/eel but they totally botched their division structures |
If EDP "botched" their divisions and placed this team incorrectly, they will get relegated. The FCB team at issue won their division at both Potomac tournament and Premier Cup. According to got soccer (which is also not perfect), here are their stats: Games 9 W-D-L 9-0-0 Goals For 31 Goals Against 2 Goal Ratio 15.50 Win % 100.0% |
I love the idea of this program. If you don't mind some questions.. what percentage are 2008s? How far from around the area do the u11 farther girls come from to participate? |
