What's going on with FCBEscola NOVA?

Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg. Distance is our hang up as well.

Leesburg? FFS. That's like another state. Do people who live in Leesburg work there too?

FCB is there because it’s probably the best facility in NoVA and plenty of close by Loudoun and FCV players to recruit. Supply and demand FCB did their homework

Wonder if folks are leaving from any clubs farther out than that, based on OP's original sentiment of maybe trekking out there to check it out.

I know people coming from Gainesville and as far south as Lorton going up to Leesburg, but to each its own. I'm in Springfield and we checked out a tryout back last summer, but it is way too far for serious consideration.

How much do they charge?

$3100 which covers the training and any entry fees for local tournaments (if your kid/team is selected to play in one). Travel is extra.

Whoa. That's on the really high end. I know some people pay more than that, but the fees are usually all-inclusive.

Did you miss the part that said it included all tournament and eventual league fees?

"Travel is extra."

Also, it didn't mention eventual league fees. Tournaments, yes.

Most parents I know balk when the price tag goes over, say, $2,500. (Granted, I don't know kids playing ECNL or a national showcase schedule. I know kids who could've played ECNL but weren't going to pay that much.)

Umm, travel is always extra. Seriously? You think 3k gets you travel? Essentially FCB costs as much as most high end travel teams. Most teams training seems to hit about $2000-2500 for training any more. Then tack on team fees for tourneys, indoor facility the eventual "voluntary" futsal league etc.

At what club is the actual travel included??? Grasping at straws.

Because it is zero.

There are training fees that clubs advertise and people tend to forget the team fees. Team fees generally run about $500 a year if the team plays in 4-6 tournaments a year and play in a league.

I am positive that there are teams where the training fees are in the $1500 ball park but it is really on the low end. And the teem fees on top of that could come in less than $500 if the tournaments are smaller and local and up to 4 of them. I'm not debating that it can be done.

But, for larger clubs like Loudoun, McLean or Arlington the out the door expense of 3k is not A-typical.

At several clubs in this area, the low $2,000s will include everything except the actual expense of driving to and possibly staying in another town. That's for NCSL and VPL. (And surely ODSL.) Can't speak to CCL or EDP.

I'm sure the A-teams at the big clubs pay $3k and higher. I'd balk if I were charged $3k to play for an NCSL team unless it's really good and has a legitimate reason to play showcases.

I already conceded that point. CCL and generally most NPL and certainly EDP training fees are going to start at 2k. Those are generally A teams and the coaches will simply charge more. The other things that can affect overall fees and are club dependent are field costs. There can be some variance between clubs due to fields and their expense. Lets just say Evergreen is not cheap.

In FCB's case a premium is certainly charged just to pay for Evergreen.

Agree. The players and families I know at FCB really don't give two sh*ts about leagues and showcases. They are pretty hard core about development.

But with FCBEscola indicating it wants to enter league play in Spring19 will these fees go even higher?

No, I believe it will include the league fees.

I and my neighbors have paid well less than $3k, including training, winter futsal, league fees, tournament fees -- everything except gas money and the hotel room for the one tournament that wasn't in the DMV.

This is now the third time. Nobody is doubting that you have paid less you don’t need to keep proving it.

It has also been admitted that FCB is at the top end of the price range but in line with other large clubs prices.

I’m not sure why you have such outrage. Clearly you have demonstrated that more affordable soccer is available.

We only care about training staff and the quality of training.

I think that’s where the disconnect is coming.

FCB is not a travel Club. It doesn’t operate like a travel Club.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

Is $3k a lot to pay for a kids activity for a year? Of course. But it is well within market pricing when compared with other soccer, sports, and non-sports activities in the DC area. There are plenty of parents paying $3k and much more in this market. How much are parents paying for ECNL and DA, European tours, private coaches, etc. Point is this market has enough demand to support all these businesses. And make no mistake these are all businesses trying to make money.
