Is Landover the bad part of pg? I only know my friend lives in bowie, I've heard Hyattsville has an arts scene, and college park and mount Ranier have a hipster rep. Oh, and upper Marlboro had a bunch of foreclosures and new construction?
Where is landover? |
So anyone who minds their business and let the folks from DOE and the schools do their job or has better things to do with their time and energy does not live in DC? Everyone who lives in DC is on this crusade? No. No we are not. |
Landover is near the front entrance of FedEx Field, where the Washington Redskins play. However, the back and side entrances of the field is called Largo, which is a nice area of PG. |
What proof of residency are these families using? I used my car registration along with my license. A lease/utility bills requires proof of payment etc. Our school suggested not providing those because the audit will be difficult. I blame the school if they don't notice falsified documents. |
1) free all day preK 2) DC upper income is #1 in the country including MD 3) smaller class sizes 4) language |
http://osse.dc.gov/node/887022 Here are the requirements. Vehicle registration is not the only one- and can't be the only one if you choose to use that as residency proof. Many, many reasons why people drive out of state cars around the District. It's all about if you pay taxes in DC that enables one to send their child to school in DC. That's why this thread is dumb. |
As I said in the previous post, I used my vehicle registration ALONG with my license. This does not show that I pay DC taxes, but I do. My pay stub doesn't not show my address, but it does show I pay DC taxes. |
I get what you're saying. And what I'm saying is the vehicle registration is not the end all. Many reasons why people drive out of state cars (MD VA and beyond). |
This, so previous posters need to get over it. |
You are thinking just in terms of the public schools around Bethesda. There are schools in PG that are inferior compared to a number of DCPS schools and charters. Add to that equation the very favorable price of before and after school care in DC, at a location that may be not far off a parent's commute, and there are strong incentives for people to sneak their kids into DCPS or some charters. |
The nice part of PG is like saying the less smelly part of a sewage part. It may be upwind but it is surrounded by shit and it makes you queasy just being there. |
I would be queasier if I had to hang out at yoga class with you and the rest of the bored yu Ying moms. And I think I speak for us all. |
I said that when I lived in Shaw. And I say that now that I live in Woodridge. There are moments when I feel queasy driving into my neighborhood. I guess you live in Palisades PP. |
