| How can anyone get recruited for college without traveling to Spain to play rec level soccer at B level facilities during your spring breaks? I just don’t see any university accepting a player that hasn’t done this at least three spring breaks in a row. |
Why is this on the Vda thread? |
Hopefully your DC made that choice w/o pressure. Some kids are playing HS soccer and ignoring the clubs preference as its not really up to the club. Someone will have to swallow the humble pie and share the accolades with the HS coach if it pans out. I truly hope you guys aren’t being bullied out of an experience you only get to do once as parents. No guarantees that college will provide the same loving experience. |
Not everyone has a loving experience in high school sports either. DD was not having a good experience and was around a toxic group of adults coaching the high school team and I’m happy that she can continue to grow and develop during the high school season not playing for her high school team. If high school soccer is for you, that’s cool but don’t assume that every family is dying to be a high school soccer family. |
I’m PP and missed that you said “loving” to describe your DD’s experience. Can you explain what you mean by that? |
Nobody is forcing you to do anything. You should just leave Vda and play for a different club if you want to play up. |
oooo Translation stfu this is happening. Pathway to paaaaiiiiiin!!!! Seriously thats cold. Where is the love? |
Some kids in Fairfax and other counties are having wonderful experiences playing against and with team/club mates. Without the toxicity. If your HS situation is toxic complain to the chain of command and things get fixed. Its not like a private club. |
Love that for you! |

bp??? |
Probably not BP. Probably just a parent that’s so done listening to parents complain about what age group their daughter is being placed in. If you don’t like it, just go to another club that will let your daughter play up. |
LOL no serious clubs are allowing this unless they have an immediate need and/or your kid is a rockstar with that much leverage over the club. Most parents wont take their ball and leave. Especially if the kid is replaceable. |
Improve? She is 16 years old. At this point her improvement is self driven. I want her to play where she enjoys the most. That is high school. Unless your kid is going to have a career in soccer (hint: she won’t) then have her play high school. She’ll remember it way longer and better than she will club. |
| Also, what about this Copa Talent thing, kids do? Does BP like that? 3 teams in a bracket playing all weekend? lol what a joke! I see many VDA girls playing in that! Can’t believe HS is frowned upon but they can play in that lol |
