1. MS13 gang member. Police paperwork details MS13 gang member indicators on his person.
2. Verified habitual wife beater with restraining order against him.
3. Verified illegal alien denied amnesty.
4. Picked up with $1,000+ cash in his pocket and packets of drugs thrown on the ground as cop approached.
5. On an FBI terrorist watch list.
6. Verified picked up by police in TN, suspected of human trafficking the people in the vehicle he was driving.

Number three - he applied and was rejected for asylum in 2019 but this was denied because he waited too long to apply after entry

Exactly. Beating his wife is horrific. Killing another woman the way he did, is beyond comprehension. Amazing who Democrats like to defend.

I don't doubt the evidence suggesting this guy is POS criminal. The only people defending his character are very unlikely to be aware of his documented history of being a bad guy. Most people defending him are doing so out of regard for legal due process. When due process is neglected for an individual case, a can of future legal worms is opened.

You are correct. It is a particular form of courage and vision, to defend someone you have never met, and probably wouldn't like if you did, when you suspect he's actually not a decent person... because his case is a landmark case that will save the rights to due process of everyone else!

All the conservatives I've talked to agree with this point of view, BTW. It's only the extremist fringe and troll farms who repeat empty White House talking points and insults against "Democrats". "Democrats" are not the only ones who want due process for all. The majority of the US population wants due process for all.

I wonder who gave him those clothes.

What due process? He was seen by an immigration judge who denied asylum. He was seen by an appeals board who sided with the judge. How many times do you think one illegal immigrant needs to be seen? It’s ridiculous.

This happened during Trump’s first term, so why didn’t the felon start a deportation hearing then? Why was he still here???

Sure.

Thank goodness! I hope families of everyone else locked up in the concentration camp can have similar news BTW.

It should end all the stupid "What's Van Hollen doing in El Salvador grandstanding uselessly" posts too, though.

Agree, whether they realize it or not, all Americans benefit from due process.

Now that he’s been confirmed healthy, he gets the honor of staying in El Salvador’s custody,” Bukele said Thursday night in a post on X.

Now that the President of El Salvador says he’s not sending him back, what’s the plan?

What utter BS!

He is NOT a constituent if he has no right to vote.

And as an illegal alien, he lacks that right. This whole trip is so stupid.

Glad to know you have a direct line with Bukele. We trust the almighty Trump will figure it out now that Court of Appeals is also ruling him.

His wife is a consituent and he cares about his constituent's families.

I know this is going to boggle your mind but many elected officials feel a responsibility to represent all people living within their jurisdiction, regardless of their immigration status.

Also, he was not illegal.

Thank yout, Senator Van Hollen!

Just out of curiosity, did the Trump Administration help "facilitate" this meeting? If so, then that gets the Maryland federal judge off his back (the court can no longer claim that it has done "nothing" to facilitate the release). It doesn't mean that Abrego Garcia will be released by the El Salvador government.

This is all political posturing. Sen. Van Hollen gets his photo op, while the President defuses the judicial situation.

Thank God for Van Hollen. All of our due process rights depend on Americans paying attention to this case and demanding those rights for this man, who is a human being and is entitled to certain rights under our laws. Sorry if you want to dehumanize him so Trump can deport anyone he doesn't like.

DP. The Court of Appeals has no more authority than the district court to require the President to exercise executive powers. If Bukele refuses, then there is nothing the courts can do. They also cannot hold the President in contempt for failing to comply with their orders or opinions.

This is a political fight between Democrats and Republicans over immigration that has now spilled over into the judiciary. It is also a political fight between the executive branch and the judicial branch. The Supreme Court may be forced to weigh in again, but it will only be able to express dismay or disappointment that the President is not exercising his executive authority.
