What SHOULD Dems do?

Anonymous
In many circles, it's thought that they should change their names, grow beards and retreat into the wilderness, never to be seen again.

Yes exactly. And the t-rump voters are idiots who are mostly dumb, white, rural, hicks who bitterly cling to their christian nationalism and guns. Full stop.

This. We need to make the swing voters feel shame for associating with white trash MAGA voters. Shame works. We won in 2020 because swing voters were embarrassed to be associated with Trump. Our job is even easier this time because it’s already obvious that it was stupid for anyone to vote for Trump.

I’d prefer those voters be boiling mad. Shame is good for getting people to blame themselves and tune out, which has its place, no doubt. But I think we’re better off convincing these voters they’ve been tricked and deceived, and we should stoke their rage and focus it where it should have been all along.

Not “do you like us”, but list all policies and “agree or disagree”, and do you like this or that policy?

In all seriousness, why would anyone want to have a beer with any of the leading Democrats? They are profoundly unlikeable people.

Whatever, MAGA troll. I would have a beer with Buttigieg. I’ve always had gay friends. And what’s wrong with Pritzker? Are you a body shamer? Newsom is a but slimy, but he’s charming and handsome and I would love to have a beer with him. AOC is a bit too progressive to be my ideal, but she’s cool. And finally, may I remind you of two people called Barack and Michelle Obama?!?! Our party is a LOT cooler than the Republicans!

Pritzker is as slimy as Newsom. No beer, thanks. Newsom, absolutely no way. He is disgusting. Buttigieg, it would be like having a beer with a robot.

Barack, yes. Michelle, yes. But they are not candidates.

I’ll give you AOC. Yes, she is a good beer companion.

Ouch. Painful. May I remind you how we lost the youth vote?

I am an Asian swing voter and no amount of shaming will change my support for Trump and Vance.

Yes, but it’s easier to change candidates and messaging than to change policy. We already know that migrants, trans folks, and federal employees aren’t “popular” with voters, but we have a moral obligation to fight for these groups no matter how unpopular they are. I’d rather lose elections than deport children or ban trans athletes or let Elon Musk take a wrecking ball to the lives of government employees.

I would pair Tim Walz with a nice stout, and AOC with an amber ale. Pete Buttigieg has notes of malt with caramel undertones.

NP. Curious as a fellow minority. You suggest that your vote could change by identifying as a swing voter. What WOULD change your vote? I feel like the Dems are terrible fighters and sometimes wonder if they embraced fighting during this time it would help a lot of voters feel safer. Instead of turning the other cheek.

OTOH, Love Trumps Hate. Always.

To me Democrats seem TOO fighty. They are always trying to FIGHT legitimately elected Republicans and their policies when they should be trying to get elected themselves.

Well, that says a lot about you. None of it good.

I was traumatized by that and can't fathom how the Republicans rationalize it.

They don't believe in democracy as much as they believe in conservatism and tax cuts

Some of them don't really understand democracy. They say things like, "The country should be run like a business," or "Congress takes too long to do things." It shows they don't get it, and expect immediate gratification.

And nowadays Republicans seem to be the better vote getters too.
