The problem here is that you assume the FDA hasn't approved the under 5 vaccine, or issued full approval for the 5-11 vaccine, because they are simply not working hard enough. You are ignoring the fact that there are a number of people on the FDA approval panels who have concerns about vaccines for kids who are low risk. Especially when the vaccines for high risk older people are so effective, so there is less of an imperative to vaccinate kids to protect adults -- adults can protect themselves, and Covid can infect the vaccinated, so vaccinating kids doesn't stop spread. You are assuming you understand the science here but when actual doctors and scientists at the FDA raise questions, you dismiss it as them being lazy. I agree with you on no lock downs and school closures. I just don't think we need a vaccine mandate for kids to get there. As an adult, I'm happy to vaccinate/boost however often they think makes sense from a public health standpoint. |

Did the world hold the United States accountable for the Spanish flu? Because that started in Kansas. (And it was called the Spanish flu because Spain was the only country whose newspapers weren't downplaying it to keep morale up during WWI.) |

That's not going to happen. You might be able to get a substantial minority of people to get a booster once a year, like they do with the flu vaccine. Keep in mind that fewer than half the vaccinated population got the first booster. A two time a year booster? You'd probably be lucky to get a third of the vaccinated population to do that. |

This is mostly true. The main reason there is no authorized vaccine for kids under 5 is that the Pfizer vaccine trial failed. However, the FDA isn't completely free of blame. It looks like the FDA had something to do with the decision to drop <5 year old dose to 3mcg, despite the warning signs that it might not be enough from the 10mcg dosage study-- a decision that ultimately led to the trial's failure. And the FDA certainly delayed the phase 2/3 study in kids by going back to Pfizer after the trial began to tell them to double the number of participants. It has finally started to change, but far too long the federal health agencies were treating pediatric vaccinations as critical to resuming more normal activities for the purposes of creating guidance, while also deeming it low criticality for the purposes of vaccine trials. |

SOME people get sick. I know plenty of people whose only side effects have been a sore arm. |

Yeah but "SOME" is not like 3% of people. In my family I think it's like 30-50% and that includes my elderly parents who don't have a as strong of an immune response due to their age. |

It's already hitting. Our school has had a sharp uptick in cases over the last 2-3 weeks. I tested positive today despite being careful and triple vaxed. BA.2 is extremely contagious. |

Started with a scratchy throat yesterday (tested negative), otherwise felt ok. Woke up this morning with a scratchier/hoarse throat and a little upper respiratory congestion, plus some heavy phlegm feeling in my upper chest just below throat. Head feels slightly “loopy” like I’ve had a drink, but otherwise ok. Stomach is a little sensitive and I’ve had several less than solid bms. |

I am a teacher and we have also seen a significant uptick. Our school doesn't test so I am sure there are a lot more cases that go undetected. I had several positive students in an intervention setting. I didn't get it (none of us were wearing masks) but I had asymptomatic COVID in January so perhaps that provides some protection. |

Our school doesn’t test anymore either but implemented “highly recommended” at home testing twice a week about 3 weeks ago. And a lot of people test anyway. We had over 40 cases in the week of March 21, and 25 last week… this is a private not in DMV and we are now getting daily case updates with number of cases in each class. |
