You all know PSAT is useless for admissions, right? It's the SAT score that matters.

So tell me, which schools care about NMSFs and how much money do they give?

It’s less selective big state schools for the most part. But there are some good schools that give small scholarships (like Carleton, Grinnell, Kenyon) to NMF.

The oldest child in a family I know just started at Alabama on a full NMF ride. I think it includes room and a stipend too. Very smart kid.

Brass tacks - it is a way to give scholarships to white kids.

Well, my kid does it for the accolades. Since she has a near perfect SAT, why not go for the low hanging fruit of NMS as well? Looks nice on the achievements and awards section of her resume. You do these things to not necessarily get scholarships, though being an NMS scholar can get you a full ride in certain colleges.

Bummer. Can we blame it on Asian-American overachievers?

Typically $500 to a few corporate sponsored $10K.

So do they scale it if using the SAT b/c DC couldn't take PSAT, or like the one article suggested, the idea is that the SAT has the extended scale because it contains more difficult content, and the scores stand as reported on the SAT? If the latter, I think my DC has a shot! 37 Read 37 Write 39.5 Math (assuming this would be capped at 38) on first SAT, straight 39s on 2nd (but I don't think that can count).

Has anyone in Maryland been notified yet? Wondering what the cutoff is for class of 2022.
