PSA - NMS PSAT cutoffs for class of 2022.

Is this from PSAT or from alternate entry SAT scores?

Unless your child can’t take the PSAT they don’t have the choice to use alternate entry. It’s relevant this year because some schools didn’t offer the PSAT due to COVID.

It doesn’t matter. It will be the same cutoff.

Wrong. Commended was leaked and confirmed to be 207. This article is all estimates and completely inaccurate. Compass Prep usually provides good estimates for the state cutoffs

Agreed. Just read the Compass prep blog for accurate information.

The scores are scaled per jurisdiction. It isn't a national "commended" score.

Commended is the same nationally. NMSF varies by state.

My child was a NMS last year (made it all the way through). Not all it is cracked up to be, as their chosen school doesn't participate (so no scholarship $$), and, it wasn't the golden ticket she thought it would be (didn't get in at 2 target schools, and waitlisted at a reach). 35 on ACT, 3.91 UW, 4.6W, varsity athlete and leadership. Is fine with where she ended up, but thought she would have more choices being a NMS.

Which targets did she not get into? Did they participate?

I think it's good for the kids' egos when the list comes out but is completely insignificant otherwise.

There are a good number of schools that give full rides for NMF.

Even getting 2000/year (like a number of schools) is helpful to most students.

NMSF does not matter for admissions to top schools.

Does it matter for any schools? Genuinely asking. I know that some schools give scholarships but does it ever help with admissions? And what about schools at the level of Kenyon or Macalester that give small NMF scholarships?
