Arlington Tryout/Offer Notification

With so many changes to the landscape in the region coupled with changes that did not happen because of Covid, there just seems to be a logjam of players trying out at different clubs. So every club is having to wait through more players declining/accepting players.

ASA's back door is wide open and the front door is quiet. A lot of long time players bailing for MLS teams - Achilles, etc. There's no draw to Arlington any longer on the boys side, you can play ECNL lots of places.

Were the other offers for Red or White?

Four White offers, one Red.

Is there any room on ECNL girls for 2005?

That's great that your son got an offer and happily accepted. My son was at the 09 boys Red/White practice last Friday (he already plays on one of those teams) and he told me that he enjoyed talking to and playing with the newcomers at the training session. Welcome to the the White team! There is a really great group of boys on the Red and White teams this year (most of whom I assume will be back next year). Good players and nice kids. A good group of parents too.

Great to hear, and thank you for the warm welcome!

By HS, many don’t want to give up HS ball. If they are honor students they often don’t want the extra time constraints of MLs either. The goal is a good college (with or w/out soccer) not a crappy MLS career.

We have a lot more mls options near our house (boys) than ECNL ones.

I don't know about the younger teams, but none of the kids from the older teams (i.e. long time players) are bailing, except the ones leaving for actual MLS clubs.

Always.

It sounds like the 09s are way ahead of 07 and 08 in terms of issuing offers.

Nobody said they were signing pro contracts. They're just moving to MLS youth academies.

Got it. Thought you were implying they were going pro directly. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were staying put otherwise. Good teams and coaching.
