They are identified at tryouts/id sessions and then invited to attend training sessions with the team. We had outside players attend several practices with our team.

They are likely looking for one or two additions per team from the outside. Coaches already know all their existing players.

This and like pp said--at least for the top teams--they are then invited to training sessions with team.

Many outside players simply requested to attend team practices prior to tryouts so it is not entirely based on actual tryouts

What is the difference between the first session and second session of long branch park tryouts? If the player is identified, when would that player be asked to attend a separate training session with the current team?

Have the current players received their offers yet?

We have not heard anything yet for 2009 Boys and have been with the club for years.

Is it possible that they are waiting to see whether outside players will accept, and will then tell current players what team? My son's friend (from outside the club) is going to turn down an 09 offer and I think he is insane - it is for a good non-academy team.

PP, my son is not at top-team level, but the Academy, Red, and white teams have some great athletes. The current Academy and the Red teams would be extremely competitive against each other with 50/50 as to who would win any given game if they scrimmaged.

We were told tryout attendance was mandatory (after attending several team practices). My kids also attended both tryouts and they were evaluated at tryouts by 7 Coaches at the field as well as by the Coach at team training sessions. I am not sure what happens if you did not attend the tryouts, or at least one of them.

You may not know if that is true. Some players were identified at the Academy/ECNL sessions back in April and then were invited to team training sessions.

Our kid is on a current 08B team (one of the lower-half teams), and has not gotten their offer yet. I know that as of yesterday, there were still having some current players on lower teams practice with higher ranked teams, so my guess is they haven't made final decisions yet for at least those lower-half 08B teams.

For us, after first tryout, invited to training session the following night.

I think this is only for the more competitive teams. My son got (and was thrilled to have) a blue team offer without going to a practice - it was just based on the tryouts.

Current teams are practicing. I think there are 2 tryouts in case players have conflicts---but Arlington said it was strongly encouraged to attend both tryout sessions, not just one.

Unlike prior years, I found players were scrutinized more because you had at least 5-8 coaches watching the one field at all times...unlike tryouts of the past where some fields had no coaches and one coach was the one who decided who moved where. It was a panel of evaluations. There were about 2 coaches per every 1 player at the tryouts for 2 separate age groups (2 kids) that we attended.
