Celebrities and Politicians we suspect are narcissists.

He is the next-to-last narcissist?!? Who is the last one, then? Travolta?

I get why people think that, because she has a very measured, calculating way of approaching her public image that can come off as disingenuous. I found the Oprah interview fascinating because it was so carefully orchestrated to do exactly what it did, which then leaves you wondering if it was a trick.

But I personally think she’s genuine— I think she loves her husband, that she wasn’t anticipating the level of vitriol in the UK press or the weirdness of the BRF, and that she has struggled with mental health as a result. I think she is just also a very guarded person who is sharing this info because she knows it’s the best way to control the narrative about her. It comes off as calculating (and is) but I think reflects her real experiences. I don’t think that makes her a narcissist.

Huh, I had more MM thoughts on this Saturday morning than I might have expected!

+1 I think Meghan came from a challenging situation with that bat shit crazy half sister and divorce, etc and she is very much a survivor and thriver who will take care of herself. She may have some traits of NPD, but mostly I think she is a bright and strong minded woman who won't be bullied and silenced and will give it right back to you.

My DH can’t stand her. I find her a little over the top sometimes but he absolutely loathes her. Thinks she’s super fake and trying to come off like “just a regular girl!” even though obviously she is not average or regular in any way. He has a thing about people downplaying their assets or good fortune to be likable. I get it, but she doesn’t bother me.

But I have a similar thing with Taylor Swift. Her appearance and demeanor read 100% as “rich mean girl from high school who made fun of other girls for having the wrong clothes” so when she’s like “I’m just a nerd hanging out with my best gal pals!” who all happen to be rich, famous, and equally beautiful, I get ver triggered.

I have never been able to articulate my disdain for Taylor before. Thank you for the gift of these words. I'll be sharing them with the Swifties in my life.

Yeah Trumps kids don't love him. They want to keep the money flowing and use him for their own benefit. Once he loses it enough, he will be left to wilt with lots of hired help. They will visit to appear caring and will do photo opts, but they won't visit when they can't get a photo shoot out of it.

Ellen 100%
Rosie O’Donnell
Angelina Jolie (disagree totally about Aniston, she seems to have a huge group of close, dedicated friends which is very un-narcissist. Same with Pitt - everyone who knows him seems to love him)
Bill Clinton (don’t think I agree with PP about Hillary)
Justin Bieber
Kourtney Kardashian (much worse than Kim IMO)

Tom Brady and Tom Cruise are more on the spectrum/robot-ish to me

My thing with Taylor Swift is that while I don’t love her personally her talent is SO immense - for songwriting, for singing (in a pop way, not necessarily the best vocally), staying on top for as long as she has while remaining mostly sane (unlike so many who started you g and cracked up) .... etc. she’s really the only one of her generation who has pulled it off, and I have grudging respect for it.

I don't get narcissist vibes from Aniston at all. Vain, stupid, boring, basic? Sure.

I almost feel bad for Justin Bieber. He's just not very smart, and he has all this money and power/fame and is trying so hard to be a good person but just doesn't seem to know how. I can't tell if his wife is good for him or not. Why yes, I DO watch her Youtube channel.

They say he suffered sexual assault and abuse as a young man in the entertainment industry.

I really dislike the wife. There is something very wrong with her.
