This. He truly loved this country.

I am a better American citizen because of him. I am going out of my way to teach my children about our country because of him. He will influence many of us for years to come.

What kinds of things will you teach your children thanks to Rush?

How damn lucky they are to be Americans. That they owe the generations before them that gave everything for them to be free. That America is built on principles and values that never before been used in forming the basis of a government, and those principles are what make us exceptional. And that we are always only one generation away from losing it all.

He articulated the ideals and beliefs that millions of people held, and let them know they were not alone. He almost singlehandedly created the talk radio genre and was the role model for hundreds of conservative and libertarian voices that found their way to the airwaves since.

There will never be another Limbaugh. But his legacy will live on in the people he reached daily, the people he helped through his charity, and those voices that were inspired by him who give voice to the rest of us.

Godspeed, Rush.

I'm a little sad today. Not because I agreed with everything that came out of his mouth. He's a piece of my past memories and history. I still remember where I was, listening to his show when he said he was basically deaf.

I started listening to him on and off in 1995 in high school. Irreverent, funny, pushing back on what I saw as "the system". When you're a teenager, you want to rebel against something, and he was rebellious. Didnt like some of his points over the years...smoking, other topics. He put his foot in his mouth. And like a lot of conservative voices, he got way too aboard the Trump Train. Cause Trump is no conservative. I'm not even one of these hard-over conservatives, but I am a independent minded and patriotic American. I appreciate both our history AND our ability to evolve. He was an entertainer, and got himself rich in a venue of overlapping things...politics, media, etc.

Kind of a piece of my past, and america's history.

And like a prior commenter said...Bill Maher same thing. I like Bill and some of his stuff too. Both of these men represent what free speech is.

I am forever thankful to Rush for introducing me to the song "My City was Gone" by the Pretenders,

I won’t say anything bad about the man but let’s just use this moment to encourage people to quit smoking because it does cause cancer.

That he'd been able to voice his viewpoints for so long was is a testament to how deeply he believed in his ideals. RIP and may your family find solace in the knowledge that you had a profound impact on our country. Whether you liked him or hated him, famous or infamous, he will be remembered.

But does anybody really like Maher. That's the question.

Gonna miss him. Radio just will not be the same without him. The man had an amazing recall ability and a razor sharp wit.

You needed Rush Limbaugh to teach you that? Maybe you should have paid attention in school, read some history, or a newspaper.

We lost many (legends) this past week, along with Larry king.
He was generational, a certain radio host style along with the passing of Imus - not many left.
