I’ve been a listener since the early 90’s. He was a giant talent, and loved this country. He articulated the ideals and beliefs that millions of people held, and let them know they were not alone. He almost singlehandedly created the talk radio genre and was the role model for hundreds of conservative and libertarian voices that found their way to the airwaves since. There will never be another Limbaugh. But his legacy will live on in the people he reached daily, the people he helped through his charity, and those voices that were inspired by him who give voice to the rest of us. Godspeed, Rush.
I'm a little sad today. Not because I agreed with everything that came out of his mouth. He's a piece of my past memories and history. I still remember where I was, listening to his show when he said he was basically deaf. I started listening to him on and off in 1995 in high school. Irreverent, funny, pushing back on what I saw as "the system". When you're a teenager, you want to rebel against something, and he was rebellious. Didnt like some of his points over the years...smoking, other topics. He put his foot in his mouth. And like a lot of conservative voices, he got way too aboard the Trump Train. Cause Trump is no conservative. I'm not even one of these hard-over conservatives, but I am a independent minded and patriotic American. I appreciate both our history AND our ability to evolve. He was an entertainer, and got himself rich in a venue of overlapping things...politics, media, etc. Kind of a piece of my past, and america's history. And like a prior commenter said...Bill Maher same thing. I like Bill and some of his stuff too. Both of these men represent what free speech is.
