Rush has died

He lived in Palm Beach.

He actually tried to build a studio in his mansion, so he could broadcast his show from home. But Palm Beach wouldn't allow it; there are very strict rules that you can't run a commercial business out of a residential home. They wouldn't approve the permits for his construction.

So he had to go into a local Palm Beach studio in an office building everyday to record his broadcast.

I find this to be an interesting tidbit, since Trump is trying to break Palm Beach rules by living at Mar-a-Lago full time. The city really doesn't mess around.

That's ridiculous. Permits for what? All the biggest podcasts making millions of dollars appear to done on merely MacBook computers with a microphone. I know for a fact several popular talk radio hosts have been at home since March and still record live -- you can't even tell they're doing it via phone/internet.

I'm sure Dana Gould thinks he's smart and witty, but he's missing the point. Rush Limbaugh isn't talked about much anymore because it was never just about Rush Limbaugh; it was about what lurked behind him and what he channeled through his daily broadcasts: the ethno-centric nationalist movement of the far right.

Rush Limbaugh was a mouthpiece. He's dead, but the movement most certainly isn't, and it has found new mouthpieces to carry on.

The same thing is happening in the political arena. Donald Trump has also been a mouthpiece for the ethno-centric nationalist movement. He effectively channeled the movement's power to feed not only his own narcissism, but also his rise to political prominence. Yet, the movement remains much larger than Trump the man. Once Trump inevitably fades, others like Ron DeSantis will fill the void. Trump will not be forgotten per se, but he will fade into greater obscurity.

Trying to break down what ethno-centric nationalism means:

Ethno-centric is an odd word choice for White/European. Is this group Judeo Christian? Would Jared Kushner be considered a member of this movement?

Smart aren't you ?

Kushner is too smart to fully dunk himself in the Rush/Trump Koolaid. He just wanted to use it to make some money. Notice how he's been MIA from Trumpworld.

I was no fan of his, but none of these new "right wing" lightweights comes close to Rush's talent. Rush was sharp and witty, this new crop is just ramming the day's think tank apparatus talking points down everyone's throats with zero humor. It's cringe. The heir apparent to Rush is Tucker, I guess?

Rush didn't take himself so seriously. That's the difference between Rush and everyone else who came after him who are desperate for Follows and Likes. Tucker and the rest so desperately want to come across as "serious" thinkers revealing truths.

Lol you do not know Rush. He was a college drop out and a mascot for a minor league baseball team. He cried when Trump gave him a medal.
