I’m not sure what you say is accurate.

But if so, it makes me laugh.

I hope the schools won’t be able to buy their way out of this but I doubt it

I fully support prioritizing public school teachers

Wow, laughing at people risking their health to educate your children.

You’re a terrible human.

I don’t have kids in private school. My kids go to public. I could afford private, but I choose to support the public school system

Then WTF are you doing on the private schools forum? So you can mock and laugh at people? Girl, bye.

VA teachers have to teach there, I believe.

Incorrect. It’s based on where you live. They ask for an ID to prove your residency.

Not in my experience and I went this weekend. You had to produce your school badge, not proof of residence.

OP- will you please share the link or reference stating this claim?

Yes, our private in VA started vaccinating our teachers this week.

Which is complete BULLSHIT because we have been the ones going in person and risking our health to educate kids while public school teachers stay home.

I am LIVID.

Maybe since the private schools have more space / ability to enforce rules "codes of conduct" the teachers are at less risk to start with and therefore should be prioritized lower?

Clearly the schools were able to figure out how to open up safely - probably with evidence that there was low spread - so what else do you need?

this, it's perfectly safe for the privates to be open has suddenly changed to it's unsafe and our teachers need to be prioritized- choose one

So you think they're just going to magically open after the teachers are vaccinated? Let's revisit this thread at that time and see where they are.

Sigh. You're missing the point.

I feel really badly for day care workers. how they are not seen as an incredibly essential service and always come last (lower pay, benefits etc) just boggles me. DC is sending a HORRIBLE, classist message. Ironic given that last week they were all concerned about which "social class" was getting the vax. CHOOSE. WHICH IS IT?

Of course public school teachers should go first. They work for the DC government and residents to serve the public, many of whom can’t afford to get their kids back in school through private means. Private school kids are in school, so prioritize getting the rest back in school. I’m sure the rest of the teachers will have their turn soon.

I posted this up thread but no one seems to care. The ONLY DCPS/charter teachers that are eligible to get the vaccinate beginning on 1/25 are the ones who are returning to teach on 2/1. All teachers, regardless of where they teach, will still be eligible to get the vaccine during the next tier, which will likely be sometime in early Feb.

but why would you not vaccinate teachers and child care workers ALREADY in action? that makes no sense. Slap in the face to the concept of 'essential workers' and getting society up and running.

I assume your kids attend a school WOTP. You don’t get a medal for sending your kid to a school filled with white affluent kids in a neighborhood with $1million dollar plus houses.
