Why? We want equity. A designated group (just like 65plus for example) was deemed essential and offered vaccines. Bowser, because of her usual divisive self interested persona, carved out public school teachers from that group. Instead of including all teachers in DC.

Why? Because if you choose to work for or patronize a private system excused from govt regulations that attempt to ensure fairness and equity, you can’t cry foul when you find yourself in the wrong part of the Venn diagram.

This is her throwdown with the Union. I assume after this the vaccines will be "open" to all teachers and daycare workers, but she won't make a special effort to get them access as she did by setting up specific appointments for DCPS teachers and staff. They will be scrabbling for their appointments with the 65+ and anyone else in the phase.

Are there any DC private school teachers who can get theirs now in MD or VA through residency? Curious if any are going that route?

You do realize that many public school teachers REFUSE to return in person?

You do realize that a large chunk of DCPS parents CHOSE online and:or refused an in person spot?

Let’s get the vaccines to the folks who work in environments where in person learning is desired.

Lol private school teachers don’t want to be in person and get sick. Only you parents want us there. . My 90 year old mother lives with me I have been asked in order to pay my bills to go teach in person and expose my loved ones.

This is exactly why I want private school teachers vaccinated with other teachers/childcare workers. Is it annoying that the complaining wealthy once again get a benefit for just their kids? Yes. But that's no reason to withhold the vaccine from teachers who are in person (or will be once vaccinated). It's not the teachers' fault that the wealthy have mostly ignored the needs of everyone else during the pandemic.

We want equity from a private schooler lol.

Private school teachers are getting vaccinated in MD by crossing county lines into PG. Hence, all the news stories about long lines and 50% of the people in those lines have no ties to PG County. Private school teachers in MD are also trying on the leftovers from local hospitals, which are scarce. There simply aren’t enough vaccines available.

I mean private school staff should be ineligible from the specific DCPS mass vaccine clinics. However they’re not ineligible from general sign up when their group is group is opened 1b or whatever.

They probably need to be 75 or older.

I teach at a DC private but live in Maryland and got my first shot last week. I am eligible under 1b. To the PP who said that DC teachers are crossing into PG to get vaccinated, you can only get the vaccine in Maryland if you are a Maryland resident. You need to show ID and proof of residence.

So you are eligible ahead of those under 75 in 1C?

Has Montgomery county made eligible to less than 75?
Anonymous
Montgomery County private school teachers and staff are getting vaccinated by the STATE, not Montgomery County. They are eligible under the state vaccination plan.
