They don't want or deserve more than public school teachers. They don't deserve less either.

+1000! there are many small private schools that serve people who aren't rich! The average non-public school is not like Sidwell or the Cathedral schools!

So unfair that the DCPS couch dwellers get to cut in line ahead of my kids daycare teachers. My job is in person and I’ve been working this whole time too. DCPS teachers are just selfish stealers of tax dollars.

They probably need to be 75 or older.

I teach at a DC private but live in Maryland and got my first shot last week. I am eligible under 1b. To the PP who said that DC teachers are crossing into PG to get vaccinated, you can only get the vaccine in Maryland if you are a Maryland resident. You need to show ID and proof of residence.

So you are eligible ahead of those under 75 in 1C?

Great, so the only teachers who are not considered essential are DC residents who happen to teach in private schools to make a living. That is ridiculous. Also, I do not get why public school parents are hating on private school teachers.

They aren't!!!! Only the teachers who are teaching in person get it early.

As a PP pointed out, the private school population is relatively small and, as we all know, relatively wealthy. Private is a choice. It’s not essential.

You have no idea what you are talking about and must live in a wealthy bubble. There are many non-public schools in DC that educate mostly non-wealthy children.

Also, we aren't talking about vaccinating wealthy children and their wealthy parents who choose private school. We are talking about teachers who have to go do their jobs and who are no different in that respect from public school teachers, except that they make less money and have worse benefits usually.

Those are Catholic schools you are listing

They are controlled by the diocese and aren’t Independent ( Private schools)

Kinda weird to refer to them under the Private school umbrella

Of course they are private.

I can't believe someone is splitting hairs about Catholic schools being private. Dear Lord.
