Fellow Californian here. I've been on the East Coast for over a decade now and it still blows my mind that you can't buy vodka in the grocery store at 9am on a Sunday, like the good lord intended! |
You have county sommeliers? |
| In all seriousness can we get this on the ballot? I want to buy wine at TJs in Rockville like I could in Los Angeles. Whats with the restrictions Moco?! |
Pretty sure they drank wine all day during Jesus' time. But seriously, it is annoying to have to make separate runs for booze. I like to one stop shop. I also wanted to get DH (a huge wine lover) one of those wine around the world where they send you a couple of bottles per month from various countries. They don't ship to MD. I got DH this present years ago when we were in CA. |
DH goes to Total Wine in McLean, and we live in MoCo. And the irony is that Total Wine HQ is in MoCo. |

Ha- maybe a change is on the horizon! https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/food/unlike-most-of-the-country-maryland-consumers-cant-purchase-alcohol-at-grocery-stores-that-may-change-soon/2020/10/02/e9528fb4-03f3-11eb-b7ed-141dd88560ea_story.html
In the meantime, be happy you’re not stuck with state stores and beer distributors, like what I grew up with in PA |
No. Just a bunch of politicians. I don’t even know why that law exists. It seems ripe for bribery and kick backs. |
thanks for the link. |
| Welcome to the Communist Republic of Montgomery County! |
Can we get opening schools on the ballot too? |
Annapolis -- the town that never naps! Mills on Main Street is your best bet for wine. |
| OP here I found wine at a Walgreens while picking up medications for a family member. Apparently it was a grandfathering situation. They had a separate cashier just for wine and beer and a crazy long line. |
Which is exactly why we don't have a retail store - stupid regs. |
|
Except that they’re not. |
