| The fact that Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell wine in Maryland should be a criminal offense. |
I love the Potomac and Muddy Branch liquor stores and their staff! Nothing “nasty” about these wonderful places of holiday (and every other day) cheer! |
Even Milwaukee has weird alcohol laws. No selling on Sunday, no selling after a set time (6pm? maybe 9pm?). They have a tavern association and told me to go have a glass of wine at the corner bar. Strange. |

I live in eastern MoCo. So happy you have nice liquor stores near Potomac, surprise, surprise. I just stock up when I'm near a grocery store that sells it (like in Olney at Safeway or Roots) or just buy some at a grocery store when driving through VA. Ask at the hotel OP, they can advise the closest place. |
I can’t actually think of any that are “nasty” or even little. |
Thanks for posting! |
| Oh, and if you are in Montgomery county you can forget about selection. There is a wine committee that chooses what wines can be sold. Not sure what logical reason could be used to support this but that’s MC. |
Oh, I have three within 15 minutes of my house that are nasty and little. I assume you live in Bethesda, Potomac, or maybe Gaithersburg. |
Yeah, that's why I have to drive to VA or drive to Roots near Olney. |
You can special order wine from MoCo Liquor if you order a case. Better prices too. |
| Did you ask the hotel front desk? |
| I'm in MOCO but use to live in NOVA for years. Yeah it was convenient to buy beer and wine at grocery stores in NOVA and also I use to smoke back then and Cigs was significantly cheaper than MD. Beer and wine too whenever I get a chance to cross the bridge I load up on alcohol at Total Wine and beer, way cheaper than MD. |
| This conversation makes me grateful I live in VA! Wine is everywhere. |
| It gets even weirder if you live in Montgomery County, op. I've lived here for 5 years and lived in a neighboring county prior to my arrival. I was shocked when I went out one Sunday to purchase a bottle of wine only to find that liquor stores are closed on Sundays! |
